is it possible in cell stage to eat other cells and still eat basic food. sort of like omnivore type thing

The glowing light is probably because he just "leveled up" and can add new parts to the cell.

yes. and maby you get more basic body parts in the change of a chapter.

I think your progress in the Cell stage is based mostly on how much you have eaten. I think you can jump into the editor at any point but i don't think that helps your progress directly, it just lets you add more parts so you can eat more stuff. So if you got very lucky and just stuck to eating the green particles and avoiding other cells you could beat the Cell phase without going into the editor once. but there may be points where you are forced into the editor, because it seems the Cell phase is broken up into 5 parts, but that might just be changes in scenery.
