Big surprise, it's the end of the month and nothing happened. In fact all I have heard was from IGNPC in which they said due to fiscal problems the game is likely to be delayed again to the second half of the year. It's just like Duke Nuk'em Forever, despite a loyal fan base the game will probably never see the light of day but EA will still never say they've canned it if for no other reason to keep the website hits up in the hopes you'll buy something else.

GameStop is saying May Day is the prerelease date. From what i understand, EA owns GameStop. It also fits right into the April-June dates. It Fits RIGHT into the middle of the spring dates also. To Make That CLEAR March is not the release date.

How is March the Offical reslease date? WW as we know by now is not trustworthy with release dates. EA Games said it will be released in the new fiscal year and not the current. The new fiscal year starts on April first. The is as good as an offical release date form EA Games itself as we ever have until it is announced. Hopefully the Spore version of PC Gamer Mag is a confirmation that it will be released this upcoming year. Hmm...I'm getting reports that the offical release date is sometime around May. Not really surprised since I know that the longer they work on it, the better it'll be (hopefully..). But yeah...Don't get worked up thinking that they'll send it out on March (according to Amazon). Just being releastic, besides, there's a few MMOs that come out that's pretty interesting. cars are used for ONLY fighting exploration and trading im not sure but i think you will be able to still custom design your own creature up too the tribal stage as civ and space stage theres no point of changing your creature you have wepons thats all i know for now

What is the point of getting in a mood over the game. I have been waiting for it for a while as well as many if not all of you we have been and i am not in a fluster over it, atleast we have been given a release date by EA for next year spring. What would you prefer, a game that will last and be really good or a game that is likely to have glitches or may freeze. It is not like this is the only game that the release date has been changed for another time is it?

NO beta is when thery finish the game but ther still F*** load of bugs in the game and the give it to people to test to find out the bugs. They send it back report. EA fix the bug it then tested again and ti gose round and round like that until they have a nice polished game which every one can enjoy. And who honestly going to buy the DS version. hah, my computer runs sims 2 just fine, and i have 20 other games and still have barely any room taken up. my computer has 159 gigs. but that just is my computer, the family computer has 219 gigs.

No, you only know the dates that have been published. I know when I started. Why you believe the actually date was sometime in 2001 was probably that Will was still focused primarily on getting Sims Online out, so he didn't actually give his full attention to Spore until 2001. That's probably what they consider the "official" date. But I was working with him and another guy on Spore R&D well before that. The original ship date was 2006? Could have been really early on at which time I doubt anyone on the team was even close to thinking about a release date. But, you're the mighty spore mod, what would I know? lol. The truth can be a funny thing...

lol. I'm just having some fun. That's all. I don't care if anyone believes me or not. I've already said enough that a number of people on Spore could id me, but I'd just assume remain anonymous. Spore is programmed in C++ as are 99.99999% of any PC game. DX 10 wasn't even out when I was there. I couldn't say if they'd upgrade from 9 to 10 midstream. Maybe. Besides, from the Spore perspective, doing anything directly related to DX would be a big no-no. A completely separate group at EA, Core Tech, writes the framework that a number of games, including Spore, run on. But that's standard operating procedure at any largish game company that potentially wants to sku other platforms. While it amuses me, I'll continue answering questions here, but I'm obviously not going to reveal any secrets. Ah, yes, just basking in all this limelight :) lol....

It will come out for sure. There's too much invested in it not to. The only questions really will be when? and how good?

The sims was a lot less complicated though. All sims walked and talked and danced the same. On spore, they have to somehow make every single possible creature's movement and everything. I have no idea how they do this kinda stuff. is there a possibility that spore might not come out? well, if the spore teams is as big as you say, then it is easier to imagine. I am just one single 16 year old person who barely understands basic code.

When I started in games, about 94, it was a lot different. I was already a programmer and I happened to love playing games. I wrote a 3D demo and shipped it around to some companies. That got me interviews and a job. Now a days, it's good to have a compter science degree. Good math skills. Demos can't hurt. I guess there's even colleges now that have programs. I don't know how good any of those are. Mostly, if you want to do it badly enough, you'll find a way :) Back in the "old" days, the teams were small and you're flying more by the seat of your pants. But you had to do a lot with a little. Now the teams are huge -- i couldn't even put a name to face on 1/2 the Spore team anymore and I was there from the start! It's not as much fun as it used to be, but that's just me. I really have no idea about Spore. I left 9 months ago. I just had a pretty good guess that "fall 2007" was wrong by at least a year. Another year is feasible, but I don't have a clue how far they've gone in 9 months. Well beyond a year wouldn't suprise me. I know its frustrating to wait, but that's the way it goes. If you had any idea how much has to come together, you would't be surprised it takes so long. The Sims took about 8 years start to finish. If Spore is 10, no surprise. 10 years! wow that IS a long time to make a game :)

Oh, the only reason I posted here, was because most of you have absolutely NO idea what goes into making a game. Especially one of Spore's size. The demos were good, but not even close to a game despite all appearances. To EA's credit, I think they're giving you the best possible, honest assesment of release dates. They're not trying to lead you on. They were just WAY too optimistic about 2007. They try to get it right, but it's not an exact science and even the next prediction may be off. That's the way it goes. That's why they never guarantee the date. I don't hold a grudge at ALL. I hope its a smash hit. Like I said, 6 years on one game, smash hit or not, was enough for me. There's other stuff I'd like to do...

There was a lot of success meeting deadlines for getting demos out, but for the nitty gritty details of doing the actual game, I think the huge hurdles were really beginning to settle in about when I left. You have to understand, when you see those demos, they are just SMALL portions of an incomplete game cobbled together with scotch tape. Its smoke and mirrors. The game has SO many moving parts its just common sense its gonna take a while for all those parts to come together, tune the game and get rid of the bugs. Especially when you have the overhead of a virtual army working on it. Why did I leave Spore? Well, a number of reasons, but not the least was working on the same game for 10 years! Yeah, 2009 is maybe pretty reasonable, but 2010 wouldn't be a surprise either :) Will it be any good? Yeah probably. But it's also possible it will sink under the wieght of its own hugeness and hype (remember sims on-line anyone?). It could go either way and I hope it does well. At this point I'm just a Spore spectator like everyone else :) Although personally I probably won't ever play the game.

Your wrong Britain and UK are the same thing. Technicaly it Great Britan and United Kingdom. Northen Ireland have the same GB passport as the rest of the kingdom. ANyway boycoting EA will slow down the development because they'll put more money into developing game that they know will sell instead of the untest genre of spore.

well england, i think, is just a smaller part of britain. england is just one country while britain is england, whales, scotland, and north ireland. I thought britain and UK was same thing though. What is the difference?

Jomigc, EA wont release spore any faster, theyll just ignore American markets and turn more towards European consumers while downsizing their home offices and supersizing their locations in France Germany and Britain

EA is stupid. they didn't realize that the reason why they sold less games this year is because everyone is waiting for Spore. Because this game is EVERYTHING. to save up for it, we gamers refrain from buying their average game sequels like NFS Carbon. my advice is, we should stop buying games from EA so that they'll be so desperate for income that they will release Spore earlier than 2008. =)

Trying to kill EA won't work, If you succeed EA will be dead and never be able to realese Spore. And getting angry won't help either you'll just have to find something else to do until it's realesed.

Damn volt...you shouldnt be suprised, its fucking EA games, they fucked up BF2, 2142, and C&C (much like ubisoft with SCDA) I give it 30% they cancel it all together, 20% that they delay till 2010, 5% they cancel the delay, 15% they make it so hard to use that it just results in pain and frustration, and 30% they force you to buy it with EA downloader.
