Flora Editor Planned!

Written on: October 17, 2009 by

In an interview late last year, it was heard from Spore Executive Lucy Bradshaw that expansion packs would not only include new assets, such as parts, but also more editors. A single example was given to this, that being the Flora Editor.

Here is the quotation;

“When we started Spore, we were thinking about how we’d make an engine that had the possibility of expansion, so yes, we’ll add to the experience. I think, however, we have a very cool opportunity to take Spore in a few different directions too.

The editors are so cool and fun, that we want to advance those as well as the gameplay that we put into the core game. We are not shipping with the flora editor. Sorry. It’s something we eventually want to get out there as it is fun to work with.”

So, there it is. Flora Editor will be released at some point in the future. We've already seen the big release of Galactic Adventures and the first Parts Expansion, "Cute and Creepy". Cute and Creepy was released November 18 2008 and Galactic Aventures was released June 23 2009. From that, surely there must be a new Expansion near to release?

With Christmas up and coming, it would be an excellent opportunity to release it before then - in my opinion, at least.

You should more to spore the true stages of evolution you already got cell creature tribe civ and space but you need the fish stage or evolution not complete you got four chances to choose either to put it in cell stage or creature stage or make it a new stage or don't make at all i wounder what you would choose.2006 is better than the spore now but you have to put a hint of new into it no blood though let the stars age and after words make new stars.We could just travel to other galaxys in spore then we could have 7 stages with water fish stage the last shall be call the galactic stage.we still can earn bages in space stage.since steave hasn't been use that much only for the staff of life but we need him to pass to galactic stage were you'll earn a bage and let's you buy galactic interstellar drive wich will let you travel to other galaxies in the spore universe.

A Flora editor would be a great idea, especially if you could link it up with similar types so that if I made a pine tree it could be linked up with similar looking bushes and flowers to make a pine forest atmosphere! Or maybe, and this is probably a bit extreme, trees that can talk or move.

If someone brought back the creature marine life from beta spore improved, i would gladly pay an extra 30 bucks. Marine animals can change the game ALOT.

I don't know about just flora, but I'd like to see an in-game feature that allows your creature to become a plant-animal hybrid, or evolve in the water, or start on a gas giant. Spore is so incredible it can't even be described, and I absolutley love it as is. I could spend hours describing how there is really no other game that compares. But I can't help but notice that certain aspects of sci-fi/fantasy culture ("Star Wars' Cloud City", Atlantis civilizations, etc.) can't be reproduced. If eventually home-computer technology gets up that far, I think Spore should make things like silicon-based life, aquatic civs/tribes, photosynthetic animals, or aerial evolution possible. For present day, a flora editor seems like a great next step. (I always wanted to put one of the puff-cacti in my adventures, but never had one.) (p.s. I've always been one for big dreams.)

It would be great if spore had another expansion. but here it is December 3, 2009 now and still nothing new. I think Spore might be dying.

Yeah lucky, you seem a pretty decent member, but you don't post, and we don't see you in the shoutbox =[ Also, thanks, Dream. I also signed up to Spore Newsletter, so I can grab any new news asap. :)

Great article! Happy to see XSpore back in action! I remember when Lucy said this last year lol! But i doubt they will announce a new EP or SP for a Christmas release, as it is nearly 2 months away, very close by! So i expect it to be announced later next year, but who knows! :D

It's fine, Azk. Just because some people don't like it doesn't mean this isn't a Spore site.

It's news about spore which hasn't been posted on xSpore, nor is it untrue...

Flora? That is probably the least most important editor... How would they make it fun?

First. I don't really care for any of this =DD
