Spore De-Authorization Tool Released

We have just received an email from Maxis Cactus regarding a Spore De-Authorization tool they have just released. This tool has come about due to the massive negative feedback they received regarding DRM and SecuROM on Spore. This tool allows the gamer to de-authorize a computer if they want to make that authorization available on another computer.
Here's the direct email quote from Maxis Cactus:
"
Hey Everyone,
In recognition of player feedback regarding DRM and SecuROM
on Spore, Maxis is offering a standalone download so that users can now
"de-authorize" a computer if they would like to make that authorization
available for another machine.
Machines can be de-authorized or re-authorized at any time.
The total number of machines on which Spore can be authorized concurrently will
continue to be five. To de-authorize a PC, download and launch Spore_deauth.zip
and run the Spore De-Authentication Tool.exe file.
You can de-authorize at any time, even without uninstalling
Spore, and free up that machine authorization. If you re-launch Spore on the
same machine, the game will attempt to re-authorize. If you have not reached
the machine limitation, the game will authorize and the machine will be
re-authorized using up one of the five available machines.
Thanks everyone for your feedback, we hope you find this
tool useful.

Well it's a step in the right direction I guess, and an important one for any other game that has install limits as there is no reason they cannot have a "De-Authorization" tool as well. However the install limit was only one problem with spores DRM system and in my opinion not the most important. If EA or Maxis or WW or whoever wants me to buy the game and activly encourage others to buy it then they are going to have to scrap most of the DRM altoghether. Basicly be more like Stardock

Agreed

Not that this matters anymore. It doesn't make Spore a better game...

I hope you can de-authorize a computer that has "kicked the bucket" without running this process. I guess a phone call would work in that case.

And if we lost our Spore Installation to a format? (to overcome a virus attack, for example?) I'v had to install Spore 3 times on this goddamned computer - sucks for me, huh.
