HE IS BACK!

Well, this shouldn't be a surprise for anyone, he is known for creating the innovative games themselves, and let EA/Maxis do the expansion packs, and sequels. After finishing The Sims, he started working on Spore in 2001. Now that he finished it, he is working on something new. He told to Joystiq:
"I'm working on a big new project that I'm very excited about, but I don't want to talk about it yet because if it takes three years to come out I don't want people saying 'Wow, he's been talking about that for a loooong time.'"
Note, that "3 years" is just an example, because Spore was announced 3 years before release too. It is not a promise that the new game will be released in 2011.
If I would have to guess, I would say that this game will be also a life simulation, and just like his previous products, it will be a critical failure, followed by financial success and popularity.

Wow, the negativity. Will Wright should produce a game that allows one to create a planetary biome fromthe bottom up. basically Spore on steroids. As for the game rating it should remain "cute" not everyone wants blood and guts, some of us just enjoy the puzzle aspect.

Than you can be sure of it that there will be thousand of patches and expansions packs for it. They are usefull but if you are done with that game you maybay can ask yourself ''Why have i bought this stuff?''

so long Maxis is EA Games owned we can mostl likely get much hype and much crap. And if it is greater then spore (It cant be so hard to beat) that means he is has some strange terminal dicease so it would absolut perfect. Or he could actuelly make science spore?

Quoting the great Yahtzee himself. "If theres one thing history has taught us besides to not piss off people called Genghis or put led in your water pipes its that if your going to make something incredibly good thats frighteningly popular, make sure its the last thing you ever make in your entire life because otherwise you get to spend the rest of your creative career struggling under the weight of high expectations and bricks."

I've said I won't ever buy expansion packs for Spore, because of what they did. However I will buy one pack maybe, and only if it is called word for word "The Real Spore" and has a T rating. Unless that's what this is, a sequel to Spore that will have everything they said it would (maybe it really wasn't going to work with the technology of today?). Either way, I hope no one leaks anything, because I couldn't handle another disappointment and anticipation attack like Spore.

Luck711, you're optimism sickens me.

The final sentence in the news article pretty much sums up what i'm thinking. Sigh

I don't think EA is bad. All i hope for is that Will Wright has a very sucessful game that was worthy of his rep, like The Sims and Spore. I also hope that it sells fast in the beginning, unlike the Sims. I guess that was because of Media coverage though, not taking away from how great the games really are.
18. crochorn - Dec 16, 2008 01:49 AM
Yes!!! a new game created by WILL WRIGHT cant wait!!!
19. Nibwoddle - Dec 16, 2008 01:22 AM
EA had damn well better not get involved with this one. And let's hope to god it doesn't turn out the way Spore did.

21. phindol900 - Dec 15, 2008 05:12 PM
I'd rather not know what it is... cause then I wont have to wait excited for several years and then be let down... I'll just wait until it doesnt realease 5 times like expected gets worse as they change things and takes things out... then get interested in it cause it wont be able to get worse.

omg omg omg omg OH MY GOD!!! :D :D :D!! I'm soo happy that he is working on something new, yay, now its time for a whole new experience!! He is an amazing creator and just liek with Spore, it will be awesome, Spore was great(got too much atttention but was great) The Sims is AMAZING, and now, this will be cool too!!! I hope he puts animals into, something like SimAnimals, i REALLY want to control animals, dinosaurs, extict animals, and ones living today, i love animals and was always hopeing he could make something like that, not like SimAnimals where you have a limited amount, but where you control ONE animal of your choice, or a family of that speices, like Sims but Animals lol YAY! :D
24. vetrijar - Dec 15, 2008 03:37 PM
off the chart (though still spore like) where do you get the slipped out video / reports or such of upcoming new games/prototypes? I usually just browse the web with adjectives that sometimes link to new games I never heard about. anyone else?
25. Brians-here! - Dec 15, 2008 02:58 PM
I'm not interested unless he leaves EA. Even though I know this time next year I'll be glued to the internet analyzing every demo vid :D
