The week ending with September 6, was a very important week for us, Spore fans. The game got negative criticism from various hardcore gaming sites, magazines, and from the gamers themselves. Our best defense was to say "but this game will sell well, because it is not for the gardcore gamers, it is for avarage people"
Now it looks like Will Wright made a good bet, because Spore sells like hot Sims.

Spore was the biggest disappointment I've ever experienced in gaming history. There's absolutely NO substance to the game. You beat it in 2 days. Since there's nothing to do other than find relics, get cash, and take out annoying enemies, it's a shallow game. I felt like I was playing some kind of cheesy stock market game. None of your cities matter, you can just take over a new one if yours get attacked. Ecodisasters and enemies attacking is just downright annoying. Taking over a city is just *zap towers, shoot 3 mega bombs*... rinse and repeat. BORING AS HELL. There's no exploration to the game AT ALL since all the planets are pretty much the SAME. They either have a relic, have someone to trade with, or you move on. That's it. The rest of the game is like a handful of mini-games that are more of a chore than they are fun to play. No cool effects when things blow up, no depth to combat, no stats for your space ship other than Health and Energy. Nothing. I can't believe I waited over 3 years for this pile of crap.

That sounds good and all, but take a closer look at the top ten, apart from mercenaries 2 there's not really alot of competition.

i DO NOT!! want ana expansion pack! I wnt Wil Wright to make updates for the game! NO CD's, no millions of icons! just when he makes something new for the game, just add it right into the game and all the games will be updated! i think he metioned that too! SPORE has been on the top of the Gamespot list for 1 and a half weeks now!

I personally love Spore, and hopefully EA will recognize taht Spore is reeling in enormous amounts of dough, and they'lll make an expansion pack :).

The Tiger Woods tour got a lot more TV ad time in the UK. Seriously. I haven't actually seen the Spore ad on UK television. The Tiger Woods one? Seen it about 10 times.

xAndy: 1. Only in console-included sales, that are generally bigger. You can barely find a PC gama in the multiplatform chart. 2. Tiger Woods war there for a whole week, since (August 29th), Spore for 2 days only.
