Spore is here!
Spore has finally, finally, officially released. Today is September 7th, and in America, this marks the release date of Spore. Just to make sure though, I took the picture you see in the news image above (yeah, that's my thumb) - the Spore box purchased from a local GameStop. I didn't preorder it, but they still had copies left. Hell yeah!
So go buy the game, play it, and then come back here to xSpore and share your thoughts in our Spore User Review forum.

I downloaded the creature creator a while back, and am now looking into getting the actual game. Before I do, though, I had a question. Is there a subscription cost like WOW or City of Heroes? Or is it free to play always once purchased?

OK, Spore is old news. Now it's time to start talking about the expansion pack(s). Any news on a release date yet? (kidding, of course). Game is awesome. Anyone get the "42" badge yet?

I love spore but hate for my creatures being carnivores. Call me a softie I don't care. I just don't like the violence of killing the other creatures.

I got sick of waiting on saturday, cancelled my amazon order, got the preload download version from the EA store, and fooled it into thinking I was in the UK, so's I got to play it the day before the official US release!

OMG OMG OMG screw spore, IT'S DREAMACHE'S THUMB!!!!!! Or maybe we should say his thumb sucks just to loose some of the hype.... But anywho, SPORE is everything I thought it would be so far so screw the hype, SPORE ROX!

I got him! The Galactic Edion, o yes! Early in the morning of sept 4 in Bar-Smit (Dutch toys shop) and they had only 1 left. So, i was verry lucky! By the way, the game is sweet. And verry difficult in the Space-face to, but that's maybe because i played on difficult and my creatures are diplomatic.

To the question about the laptop, I am playing it on my laptop with medium-high quality settings and a 1920x1200 resolution... but it is on a Dell XPS M1530 with a 8600M GT 256mb vid, Intel C2D 2.4GHZ with 4GB of RAM.

@lucky711 If you are running vista it goes into your games folder (Press Start then click Games) its to vista ppl only. Other wise the alternative is go to your program files. BTW I got the game on Monday the 1st of September and loving every minute with spore (Aussie)

Q. anyone running on a laptop? Game is great, yet seems to get slow(er) on my laptop. anyone else get this? Otherwise, the only thing i really missed (or can't figure out yet) is that eat-drag combo and stuff. isnt' that stuff in the game? There are tons of sticks and things laying around that you can pick up, but I can't figure out how to use em, or example eat something and drag it. guess they took that out?

i got spore early in the morning when gamestop opened i was the first one to get and i just played about 3 hours of the game and i just got to the tribal phase it is sweet at last.

@superbeast: me too, except I have to wait 4-7 days. The only electronics store in my town is The Source (Canada), which won't get spore in until the 25th. So I ordered amazon, but could only afford the super saver shipping on my allowance. Oh, well. At least their latest arrival date is the 19th, which is a few days less than the 25th obviously.

hey Lucky, same prob here with spore icon. the file is at C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin and the file called sporeapp.exe. just right click and send to desktop for icon. i don't know WHY it did this (same issue with creature creator). maybe somethign on our computers doing it. i have AVG and vista

Lucky, I'm guessing (guessing as i haven't installed yet) that it didn't put the icon on the desktop. check your start menu. otherwise, check your c: under your my computer, then your program files, then electronic arts. from there I'm GUESSING there will be a spore directory.. if you find the spore icon for the exe game, just right click on it and do a send to desktop for a shortcut. that's about all I can tell you there. or just goto start, search and search for spore. ----- on another note, on the box, it says animated blood! age 10+
