Preliminary Spore Reviews
Being that Spore has been released in some parts of the world for the past couple days already, reviews are coming in; and from big names like IGN. There seems to be a consensus amongst the established spore community however, that reviewers are "missing the point".
Here is a direct quote from "thestorage" on a thread he posted in our forums:
"While I'm happy with the scores Spore has been getting so far, does
anyone else think that some reviewers are really missing the point of
Spore? There seem to be a few that are reviewing spore as an RTS/action
game, as opposed to reviewing it as a sim/god game like they should be.
Unsurprisingly, these are also the reviews that say Spore is "not for
hardcore gamers", and the reviewer also often admits that they are not
very creative when it comes to making Spore content.
It seems to me that they are making the cardinal mistake of reviewing:
they are criticizing the game for something it's not meant to be. It's
like criticizing Team Fortress for not having as much strategy as an
RTS, and then the reviewer admitting that they suck at first-person

Ok, so 12:00 AM EST , I'm at a 24 hour wallmart. I buy spore and try to just ignore it while i have it in the car for the 10 minute drive home. I get in and everything installs just fine. I start to play the cell stage at 12:22, then the rest is a blur almost 8 hours of play and I'm exausted. But I figured I'd come on and try and easy the worry of some of the others in America that havn't had a chance to get it, and hope it isn't a let down. I blew through it cause i wanted to see it all, I could have taken my time, but i wanted to get to space. The reviews that say this game lacks depth, must be from people that didnt' play all the way through. Some parts were so, so. but space ties it all together. This was worth the wait, no doubt at all!

Shadow8t4 i don't know where oyu live but you were not the realy first comment on September 7th, i and many others commented a while ago on Sep 7th! its 1:34 AM here in USA! the time is different from wat it says as a comment!

WHOO!! YAY!! its out in North America!! Finally! after years of wait i can finally get in in, 12 hours!!!! Damn, i forgot my Gamespot where i pre-ordered it doesnt open till noon, grr i hate sundays!! but atleast its out, now all i have to do is sleep for 11 hours till i can get it lol

Final stretch, what an epic moment. And yeah i do agree with the previous comment 4 years of waiting come to a close, the constant visits to this site for videos and news will end. I think ill kinda miss it.

its taking 5 hours for me to preload the game.... anyone know why? i assume because many people are doing the same thing but not sure...

I'd just like to say that, like most of the people here, I've been eagerly awaiting Spore's release for years now. I've anticipated it with a passion, delighted at the release of every new video of a phase or interview, was crushed by every delay and false release date. I watched this game change. I watched it EVOLVE. Like many people, I feel this connection to it. A connection hard to put into words. But after all of this, I am amazed... for it to come out TOMORROW means that a lot of things are going to change. Who knows what the game is REALLY like!? I know I'll find out. I can't wait to. But theres a bit of a disappointment here, in the fact that we finally get this game, and I'm not afraid to say it. Disagree with me if you want, but you know, at least on some small level, that you feel the same. I don't know if I'll be back on this site tomorrow; I can't see a need to anymore. And although I await tomorrow with an amazing sense of optimism and expect nothing short of a spectacular game, one thing comes to my mind which makes me hesitant: "There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what you want; the other is getting it."

Is that how long the americans gotta wait... ive got mine yesterday! WOOO! UK RULES! But your right ENEMME. No game (Well almost) can get a 10/10. Me myself would give spore a 9.4/10. But thats because its so hard to get past all those Grog territory. I dont wanna spoil about the grog so i wont say it. One little thing : Grogs dont look like you. Whoever started that rumer was right about the grog. But wrong about that they look like you. Thats all i know about them so far. Opps, sorry. Went off topic

r you guys pissed cause it only got under 10?? i think it's a fair rating seening that it's almost a 10. no games make it to 10 even more than have the population of gamers, love it, it's almost an impossible task. for example a title that had one-million preorders, and it seemed great in every angle, got a 3.5. and really who is to deicide the real rating of game should be?? someone that makes money off of making ratings, or you the buyer?? you decide! how many games have been giving bad rating, it was actually a great game?? many of em. The game is out on the 7th, but that's only when it gets shipped, more like 8th or 9th for ya's, for me maybe will get it here in town by the 20 or maybe next year who knows, this country is being extreamly slow in getting things, or it's this idiotic town. Have fun and enjoy guys, and gals! 3)

Its going to be so strange tommorow when spore is out. I mean I have spent almost four years waiting for it. I mean there will be no more how many more days till spore. no more fake release dates to look forward to... I'm not saying Im sad its comming out cause I am not at all. Its just going to be different.
