Spore system req

Creature Creator: Complete's page at EA store was updated recently, with additional information about the system requirements:
That's it:
Operational Sytem - Windows XP/Vista (FAT 16/32 file systems not supported for Digital Download)
Processor – 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
Memory – XP: 512 MB RAM / Vista: 768 MB RAM
Hard Drive – At least 300 MB of hard drive space for installation, plus
additional space for created creatures. (600 MB for digital download)
Video Card – A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0*
For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game
requires at least:
* Intel Integrated Chipset GMA 950
* Dual 2.0GHz CPUs, or 1.7GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
Supported Video Cards:
ATI Radeon(TM) series: 9500, 9600, 9800 X300, X600, X700, X800, X850 X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950 2400, 2600, 2900, 3650, 3850
NVIDIA GeForce series: FX 5900, FX 5950 6200, 6500, 6600, 6800, 7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950 8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
Intel(R) Extreme Graphics :GMA 950, GMA X3000, GMA X3100
Note, that these are not the full game's sytem requirements, that will probably be higher, but there is also a chance that they didn't distinguish the two, so we might run Spore with computers like this.
Also note, that these are, obviously, higher than the system requirements of the Sims 2, as I always said, because there was NO official word (especially not from Will Wright) that said "if you can run Sims 2, you can run Spore"
This was only a false myth.

I should add that my HP DV600 SE has a go 6150 with dx 10. I'm sure many asking about this card have an HP.
2. xhphx - Jun 16, 2008 09:18 PM
For all asking about the go 6150 it looks like it should run. Just might have to scale back settings. I have that card and was worried too. ANATOMY OF THE GEFORCE GO 6150 The nVidia GeForce Go 6150 is basically a desktop GeForce 6150SE that can clock down for battery life. But what is that? This is mainly for the techies, but the jargon-light should still be able to pick out details. The Go 6150's specifications are as follows: 425 MHz Core Clock TurboCache Unified Memory Architecture Shader Model 3.0 Support 2 Pixel Pipelines with 1 Texture Unit Each 2 Pixel Shaders 1 Vertex Shader Info from: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3591

If you can't tell if your video card can support Spore or not (ie it is not on the lists) then there is hope. To have PixelShader 2.0 you need a DirectX 9 or higher video card. If it is DX9 it SHOULD run Spore, even if it is not on the list. If it is pre-DX9, then it won't. Simple :)

So for those new to on the fly graphics building what these specs basically mean is less hard drive space used, more processer power and memory space used. The only thing that worries me is the "with support for Pixel Shader 2.0" deal. That little token has been the downfall of a lot of games because a lot of computers lack this, especially laptops. However, if your computer is less than 3 years old you stand pretty good odds of running it, just be prepared to use min graphics settings because P. gen is a system hog.

I bought the computer from a friend who just decided to sell it and he loaded it with a brand new copy of XP pro. Im kinda stressin over this but its alright if i drop the graphics on the game

11. Draco18s - May 28, 2008 11:01 AM
sploop: it's a decent card still. It's 4 years old (depending on what letters it has, the initial model was a stronger product according to the wikipedia article) and with 256 MB of VRAM. That's more than enough for most games these days. By comparison, my laptop uses a mobile version of the Radeon 9000 and is slightly older than 3 years (ok, ok, it's 3 and a half).

i can play the Sims 2, I have the Sims 2. It doesnt even play slow for me.
13. Puppetteer - May 27, 2008 12:25 PM
Can you play Sims 2 on the GeForce Go 6150? No, so how can you expect a game with equal minimum graphics requirements to play on it? Also, it would seem the 9800GX2 isn't quite up to spore par. Or any of the other 9k series...
14. crzyboarder1197 - May 26, 2008 11:03 AM
Does anyone know if the NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 will work?
15. fourwind - May 25, 2008 01:52 PM
My processer is only 1.70Ghz WAAAHHHH!!!!! But i hope its ok!
16. Kylebeans - May 25, 2008 10:56 AM
Wow, these System Req. are pretty big! Luckily, I pass all of these with flying colours, so maybe I'll be able to play Spore on it'a highest settings =D hehehe
17. Mythmonkeys - May 24, 2008 01:09 PM

18. sploop - May 23, 2008 03:16 AM
noooooo, meant how good is it compared to the other video cards.
19. Draco18s - May 23, 2008 01:12 AM
What does it mean? It means a list of supported cards. If you look closely you can see that the ATI Radeon X800 is in that list.
20. sploop - May 22, 2008 11:49 AM
what do the video card numbers mean? I have a Radeon X800 is that any good?
21. Turdpolisher - May 22, 2008 07:28 AM

What I do not understand is why someone would buy an nvidia video card. As far as I know, they are exactly the same in every practical way as Radeon video cards, but cost from three to ten times as much. Are they magical or something? Do they do the laundry or the dishes? By the way @quaserti: grow up. Also, for some basic anatomy, women do not have cocks. Most people know this, but I can see that you might have missed that fact.
25. Drazule - May 19, 2008 05:44 PM
sweet, to what I know, I can run this game, and I'm getting a better graphics card soon so even better
