Discount price Creature Creator!

Written on: May 1, 2008 by Alterego

Update:
Amazon.com published its discount offer for Spore. If you preorder the Creature Creator before June 16, you will get a promotional code in the value of 5$, for Spore. So basically you can get the two for $55 instead of $60.
Important: This offer will be extended to anyone who has already pre-ordered Spore Creature Creator: Complete.

Old news:
A few days ago, the Spore blogger, Space Oddity brought it to the English speaking Spore fans' attention, that on the French EA site, the Creature Creator's description translates:

A complete version of Spore™ : Creature Creator will be offered in France when pre-ordering the complete game from certain outlets. For €9,99, to be discounted when you buy the game, the players will be able to set out with the complete version of Spore™ : Creature Creator.

At this time, it was still unsure if it is true or not, and if true, people from other countries could have such a preorder or not.
But DarkDragon of gamingsteve.com sent an email to our community manager, MaxisCactus, asking about the official truth. Here is the reply:

We are offering a free trial version so that everyone will be able to try the Creature Creator.  Beyond that, specific retailers in some countries, like France, will be offering discounts on Spore for buyers of the Creature Creator.  The amount and details of those discounts will vary locally.  Here in North America, several retailers will be offering discounts off Spore to buyers of CC, so keep an eye open for those offers.  Some retailers who will offer a discount here include Amazon and Target.

Lord Henry II: What an astute observation, however, as previously noted, the CC: Complete (CCC?) has FOUR TIMES the content of the free version.

Lord Henry II - May 08, 2008 09:35 PM

But if I go and just download the free one and buy the game, I'll only have to pay 50$...

Sporemenow - May 08, 2008 05:41 PM

I wonder why this site hasn't started talking about secuROM yet, I would think that this news would be big enough to post something, but i guess it's not totally comfirmed but it's everywhere and it's been out for a couple days now, why isn't there an article about it here? oh well if you don't know what I'm talking about just type securom google and you'll find out...

Lord Henry II - May 08, 2008 05:04 PM

But if I go and just download the free one and buy the game, I'll only have to pay 50$...

chavmaster44 - May 08, 2008 02:24 AM

at gamestaion spore is only £24.99 i think

Sporemenow - May 07, 2008 06:20 PM

I wonder if the Creature Creator is going to have the SecuROM on it too...

MatchNL - May 07, 2008 12:25 PM

Lol... Dr. Kilory: Don't dis spore just because your computer SUCKS. ... moron. Any one with half a brain can build a computer to run both Sims 2 and Spore just fine for less than the price of a PS3

Alterego - May 07, 2008 08:25 AM

No, Spore is $50, The CC is $10. That is $60. And it is $5 cheaper, so 55$ is the discount price.

Obsidian (aka W4S) - May 07, 2008 07:58 AM

Don't you mean $65 rather then $60? xD

Dr. Kilory - May 07, 2008 06:55 AM

Now I really don't want Spore, Why? Because I have sims 2 and it is laggy, imagine what Spore would be like!

B L I M - May 04, 2008 04:01 PM

Hmmm... spore sucks, eh? No comment. As for the news, this rocks. Blim hath not preordered spore yet, and is planning to buy the CC full price, but this may be good news for many who already did.

Hahk32 - May 04, 2008 11:07 AM

Why would you preorder, just get I doubt they would easily run out with a game like this

Jon Ace - May 02, 2008 08:24 PM

I learned my lesson pre-ordering from Amazon back when Fable was released. My shipment got delayed by 2 weeks... -_- So, I canceled the PO and went to Gamestop and got it. Long story, short: Be careful with Amazon.

Player - May 02, 2008 07:15 PM

This is the deal from Amazon.com. "$5 Spore Creature Creator: Complete Pre-Order Bonus Pre-order Spore Creature Creator: Complete and receive a gift certificate of $5 towards a future Amazon.com purchase of Spore. See details. Offer good while supplies last." http://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Arts-15864-Creature-Creator/dp/B0017KWJ56/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1209770019&sr=8-2#productPromotions

Player - May 02, 2008 06:58 PM

As I've previously stated, the article has worded this incorrectly. You do NOT get a discount for pre-ordering Spore. Let me repeat, there is NO discount for pre-ordering Spore. There is a discount for buying the FULL CC if you ALSO pre-order Spore. Despite what the author has witten, visa versa is not true.

lucky711 - May 02, 2008 05:24 PM

ya same question for me too?!!?

trex1117 - May 02, 2008 04:58 PM

i already pre ordered spore from gamestop, Do i get the Creature Creator?

Jon Ace - May 02, 2008 02:11 PM

EA better do this themselves... (Pre-ordered from the EA store)

Player - May 02, 2008 11:43 AM

Umm, sorry Alterego but you're not correct. You state "We can preorder Spore to get the full CC for free!" when in fact the order is the opposite. Buy the CC and you get a discount on Spore. You're giving out incorrect information, it's not a matter of interpretation. Your essentially telling people to preorder spore to get the CC free but that is NOT the deal. The deal is that you buy the CC and get a discount (possibly less than the 10 dollars) on the full game.

Alterego - May 02, 2008 02:21 AM

Player: That is just another point of view, the fact is that we might be able to get the game AND the CC, for 50$. So either Spore is cheaper, or the CC is for free, it doesn't really matter

Mystify - May 02, 2008 01:45 AM

sporefann-I'd be really suprised if you couldn't

sporefann - May 01, 2008 09:48 PM

I looked at this "Little Big Planet" and Spore really beats it in customation, creatures, and much more. The Little big planet thing is like customize thing but spore has alot more options and spore is funner! And cooler.Oh and can we make south Park charecter in Spore?

Draco18s - May 01, 2008 09:20 PM

I emailed Target curious as to their discount rate and got this reply: Greeting from Target.com. We currently do not have "Spore Creature Creator: Complete" listed for sale on Target.com and are not at present offering a pre-order discount for "Spore" itself. Our prices and promotions are subject to change, however, and we may be offering such a discount in the future. We do not have any information available about future promotions at this time, but we will update our website as soon as any additional information becomes available.

Duct Tape - May 01, 2008 08:39 PM

thats great!!!

sporeman100 - May 01, 2008 08:00 PM

yeah spore beats little bigplanets butt off

Obsidian (aka W4S) - May 01, 2008 05:50 PM

Blue freak, this is a SPORE fansite. Go to a little big planet website if you want to talk about that game. Also, way off-topic.

blue freak - May 01, 2008 05:40 PM

i got to say even with spores abillity to make almost watever u want(almost) little big planet is way better u can make everything ur heart desires except weopens and thats it its way better

iamthewalrus - May 01, 2008 05:20 PM

Discounts are always fun.

Lord Henry II - May 01, 2008 04:58 PM

ok...

Elnoco - May 01, 2008 04:46 PM

Cool! The game will still ROCK!!

Tino The Mexican - May 01, 2008 04:25 PM

You'll have to contact Amazon about that, Mystify. Let us know what you find. ...and just to reiterate: There needs to be a countdown to the CC under the Spore countdown!

Mystify - May 01, 2008 03:29 PM

What if you already pre-ordered spore? Can you get the creature creature at a discount?

Player - May 01, 2008 03:25 PM

This article needs to be corrected, Alterego. You quoted the response as "will be offering discounts on Spore for buyers of the Creature Creator." But then you claim this is saying "We can preorder Spore to get the full CC for free!" You have it backward. If you buy the CC at full price, you can get a discount on the full Spore game. Not visa versa.

Omni - May 01, 2008 02:55 PM

I'm totally doing this if the store which is most convenient for me supports it. This sounds great, you pay in two small installments so its less of a hassle, AND you get the creature editor early. What part of this would I not like? IF the store most convenient for me supports it. I'm not going out of my way for convenience, that's just self defeating.

thedollardonkey - May 01, 2008 12:21 PM

Sucks I already pre-ordered it. Ahh that's ok, I'm not in France.

xRWiggum - May 01, 2008 11:32 AM

what if I ordered the CC editor from EBGames and they don't give a discount on full game, it's not the end of the world but so much for getting the CC editor for free

sordid - May 01, 2008 07:12 AM

or we can buy the CC for 50$ en get Spore for free!!!!!! =D

pedrillo - May 01, 2008 07:07 AM

amazon only gives 5$ discount =(

Monstar36 - May 01, 2008 07:06 AM

BY THE WAY, Spore 1212 ive liked watched all the vids and crap and they said they'll have the demo at their home website, spore.com. Hope that helps!

Monstar36 - May 01, 2008 07:04 AM

Well scince it's not out yet, I'd think they're not putting the preorder on the market... maybe(i havent checked) the game, but not the CC. I mean they need to let the news spread before everyone just buys the CC, but not too late cuz the discount would be worth nothin. but what's wierd is that you can preorder the CC and game @ gamestop, but if they're givin a discount, they aren't showing it, but it'd be a good idea for them.

Spore1202 - May 01, 2008 06:14 AM

does any one know where that free version demo can by find?:p

Alterego - May 01, 2008 05:56 AM

Pulzifer: Maybe you can order it online for 50$, so you can download it and get a Spore preorder too.

Sporetig - May 01, 2008 05:53 AM

Hmm okay. x3 I wonder if Gamestop has the discount and CC Editor.. Anyone know?

Pulzifer - May 01, 2008 05:51 AM

wait... i dont get it... if you live in france and buy the CC you get a discount, but what if you buy it online... rsum? :S

xViktor - May 01, 2008 04:53 AM

Good... I guess
