Creature Creator at EBGames

Written on: April 24, 2008 by xDreamache

EBGames now has a page for the Spore Creature Editor with some new information.  First, it's $9.99 (in contrast to EA Store's $9.95). Second, it mentions there are 228 parts. And third, instead of a release date of June 15th shown at the EA Store, the release date at EBGames is June 17th.  There are also 3 screenshots with it which are available here.

With 228 parts in the paid version, that means the free version you get 57.

Check out the EBGames Creature Creator page here.

And thank you Espodude for posting this!

@ vetrijar. If you ever read the EULA on most games featuring online content, you dont actually OWN anything in the game. Like in the game City of Heroes, you dont actually own your character design... the company does. In WoW, you dont own your character name or even your character, for that matter. In fact, they can delete your whole account without blinking an eye and there's nothing you can do about it. The fine print says you are paying to use their services and in no way hold ownership of any aspect of the game. So, it's my best guess that any creature you create in the game is owned by EA, and thus anyone can change or modify it since EA allows the open editing and sharing of creatures created in Spore. There's nothing you can do about it.

Not that it matters to me, but probably to MANY artists playing the game, on EBGames it says "... then visit the SPORE website and look at all the other cool creatures your friends and people all around the world are making—and then pull them into your SPORE Creature Creator and play with them! What you create is entirely up to you ...". What I was curious, will we be able to edit other players creatures or will there be any in-game copyright protection to those that don't want their creatures slightly modified by others?

I just got an email from the EA Store regarding my pre-order of Creature Creator through them... they have adjusted their Release Date to match EB Games, now stating it will be released on June 17th. :(

meh...what's ten dollars? I'll more than make up for it with the money I'll not spend not drinking with my buddies or taking my girlfriend to dinner because I'm playing Spore.

Hell yeah trees with eyes!!

Gmano - Apr 24, 2008 11:53 PM

well of course EB will get it later than EA (you know, being the maker and all) and is 4 flipping cents (again, due to the not-being-the-maker-of-the-game factor)

Lord Henry II - Apr 24, 2008 10:09 PM

can't wait, but I think I'll just buy the game and get the free demo for kicks.

Arch_Laughter - Apr 24, 2008 09:58 PM

Dear Sporetig; 1. costs more 'cause they know people have been dying to get their hands on any form of the game. why not try and make money in the process? 2.Release date is later because EA said so, and EA owns pretty much all rights to the game. 3. If you place an order on a product, you wana know waht you're getting right? EA's work again.

Big difference (in numbers) between the two versions. I feel my pre-order has been justified.

minipwnerer - Apr 24, 2008 09:29 PM

Those trees are crazy lol

Sporetig - Apr 24, 2008 09:03 PM

... Why does it cost more and why is the release date later and how do they know how many parts it has?

I-merican - Apr 24, 2008 08:40 PM

Again, nice find.
