Official Correction!
Two days ago, I referred to a Gamasutra article, that contained a reference to a Spore Store, that offers an opportunity to purchase additional body parts with microtransactions.
Later I sent an e-mail to MaxisCactus, the Maxis community manager, asking for details of this plan. He replied this:
Hi [real name],
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Gamasutra’s
report about microtransactions is erroneous and we have taken steps to correct
this issue with them. Also, we’ve issued an announcement on our press
page to clear up any misunderstandings that may have arisen from their
article.

On the official site, they wrote this:
Sharing or “downloading” player created content is a core feature of
Spore, not at all something that is part of the Spore Store or even
under consideration for additional charge. The entire game is based on
players making creatures, buildings, and vehicles which can be accessed
from what we call our Sporepedia – a web based collection of all player
created assets.
The Spore Store simply gives players the ability to purchase
out-of-game merchandise such as t-shirts and posters or any additional
game products we might make down the road such as expansion packs. For
example, we are working with a company to provide the option for 3D
versions of a player’s creature to be made and the Spore Store is where
that purchase would originate. We have also mentioned that we will be
providing the Creature Creator tool as a stand alone product in the
month or two before the game launches so that players can begin to
design their creatures, but we do not have plans to sell individual
parts via micro-transactions.

plus if i get my hands on the editor before the game comes out, i wont have the opportunity to evolve my super snake creature that will eventually dominate the entire spore universe (atleast on my pc) from a little cell up to the superior bieng that it will be, just wait and see, all of you will want to have the creature that has already been created in my mind in your world, unless your to scared that it will put a good ol fashion monkey stompin on your colonies of inferior little creatures!!! just kidden, sorry, suffering from DYING FOR SPORE TO COME OUT IDIS!

well its good we dont have to pay for anything, but as far as the demo creature editor goes, i cannot wait to get my hands on it, but am thinking i will save it all up for the whole game at once, it will be good for everyone to get the demo and populate the game before i get it, but i just want to experience spore as a whole all at the same time for the first time, ive waited to long, might as well wait for another 154 Days 02 Hours 25 Minutes 47 Seconds (how much time was left till spores release at the time of my longass post!)

MatchNL i have to say 3 things. first off; who says "newbies"? second saying "Soon your journey towards the Dark Side will be complete" sounds like ur from star wars. and third i dont think it will eat people harts down to nothing unless they are some 55 yearolds that stay in their homes all day.

Wow, you guys are newbies. I've been following Spore since 2004. Soon your journey towards the Dark Side will be complete. The burning desire to play Spore will eat at your heart until you become another unimaginative creation in the next Kingdom Hearts game.... or rather, a Kingdom Hearts cut-scene with a few seconds of interactive play (like the first two).
