Spore on iPhone

EA has announced that Spore will be coming out for the iPhone this
September! Using the iPhone SDK, iPhone Spore will be released with all other
versions of Spore. The game is said to take full advantage of
multi-tough, tilt sensors, and the accelerometer - all features of the
iPhone. According to EA's CEO John Riccitiello, "I think iPhone
consumers are going to be blown away by the games we create for this
platform."

even if it has the full game, i'll never get the iphone, i might watch some clips of the iphone verision but i'm going to dedicate myself to the actual game on the pc/mac

I just watched the movie on youtube showing this demo... And it brings up an interesting thought, its been stated that the whole game got ported to iphone though graphically toned down, and the video shows levels through the cell stage, but if you watch it goes from kelp forest(lvl 15) to sandy shore(lvl 16) then it looks like a cut scene of the creature emeging from the water. Seems like that might be fairly close to the actual PC game version as well then. Maybe not the leveling exactly because that might just be the same as the phase/size bar on the bottom of the screen in recent screen shots. Which suggests the endstages of the cell stage are a marine/water stage

well, i dont have an iphone but this does mean that they're moving along pretty quickly. hopefully they'll get the game cleaned up really nicely on the MAC now. i hope it'll work on a labtop because that's what im using right now *crosses fingers*

"The iPhone is a piece of shit, and so is your face." Maddox quotes for the win.

When they say "import the whole game," what do they mean? It looks like the cell phase, with levels added in to make it seem like you're getting somewhere. I'll stick with the PC version (or wii, if it's any good, cuz my gf has one), and not pay any attention to the portable versions.

And this. "EA's Travis Boatman certainly caught our attention this morning when he gave a brief demo of an apparently complete version of Spore running on an iPhone. Boatman's show and tell took place during Apple's presentation about the iPhone's SDK. Boatman said it took EA two days to get CocoaTouch running, after which they could "import the whole game." http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/03/spore-running-o.html I would never pay for an Iphone, when my fancy 2006 cell phone plays music and such, but I end up just using it as a phone. Go figure.
ToddMite - Mar 07, 2008 11:28 AM
and of course, they are much more worser than the original.
ToddMite - Mar 07, 2008 11:27 AM
ATENTION: no mobile version of a game(for pc and consoles) are better than the original one.

From what I've read, the full game is playable on the iphone. "EA actually managed to port 18 levels of Spore and a level editor to the iPhone in two weeks, thanks to the commonalities between the iPhone and the Mac platform. (They use the same development environment, XCode.) Spore is coming out in September, and EA says it will be the "first third party game" for the iPhone. Which makes me think that's a heck of a challenge for Gameloft and EA's other competitors."

Sorry for the multiple post my browsers acting funny, I think I have a virus. (Damn Limewire!)

I think the mobile versions are going to be "story mode" games. Just like many of The Sims (that weren't for PC at least) where full story mode or largely story mode whereas the PC versions where free-play. The screen shot that says "Kelp Forest, lvl 15" just further supports this. Dose that answer your question Dollar Donkey?
