Maxis has outsourced spore to EA for a reason. They wanted spore to be on all consoles but sony and nintendo make companies pay to use their games compiler software (for xbox anybody can get it and make homebrew aplications) but EA already has all the compilers due to ther nature of being a publisher. Maxis sent it to ea so the didnt have to buy it.

I would have to disagree with you SilverRogue. They know it's going to be a good game, they have 4 MILLION preorders. People that have played with the editor absolutely love it, and if over 50% of the people at least wait a single WEEK, it'll show as a defiant stand to EA. I'm not saying anyone will do it... but I'm telling you right now, that I'm going to stand by my decision. In fact, I'll even post a link to a picture of me buying the game 1 week later, with the receipt showing the date.

While I would certainly love to give EA a good kick in the shins, the people who are saying we should delay buying the game for a month are operating under the delusion that you can teach a corporation anything. Imagine, for example, the Pointy-Haired Boss from Dilbert. Now assume he's in charge of EA. The first month a product is released, nobody buys it. He's more likely to blame the engineers for not making a good product than he is to blame marketing for delaying it and pissing everyone off. If you do do the 1-month delay thing and EA notices it, odds are the end result from it isn't going to hurt the people you're aiming for.

Well first off, we are different people!! hahaa. Second, I never said I woulnt buy the game. I said I agree with what MatchNL said and that I would wait at least a month to buy it. That way, all of this huge profit they were expecting would fall into the next quarter, which would seriously fuck up with EA. Will Wright and the crew still get their share, but EA learns its lesson.

I am with MatchNL! Fuck EA! Spore is a brilliant piece of art, sure to be Will Wright's masterpiece. Seeing how there's no way to stop these bastards from delaying the game anymore, I say we make them pay. Its bullshit. Plain and simple. They cant get away with taking advantage of us! Therefore, I agree with MatchNL, and seeing how he (she?) was a former employee, I think he (she?) knows whats going on. EA, you wont see my money for SPORE anytime soon.

I am absolutely not going to buy this game. I'm done. F*ck you EA. It's not worth it. I've been waiting for 3+ years. If you can find the last delay announcement, you'll notice that I said if it's delayed one more time, I'm taking a stand. I worked for EA and I know for a fact that the game was scheduled to be completed before the end of March 08. This was 5 months ago, thus "fairly" recent. The BEST thing that could possibly happen on the actual release of the game, was the NOT A SINGLE PERSON purchase the game for at exactly one month. This would be the only way to get back at EA. This game is expected in pre-orders alone to exceed 4 million copies. If you can hold out for 3 years, you can hold out for one more month. Imagine how screwed EA's financial department would be after anticipating tens of millions of dollars and not getting any sales. Sure, they'd probably get the initial cash from the stores buying the games to sell, but there would be no restocking of the item for a full month. Who's with me?

its a marketing trick You delay the game to increase anticipation and thus boost sales when you finnaly release it. this only can work to a certain exten before people get too bored and spend their money on something elese and can't buy the game when it comes out. Every delay is making me more and more likely not to buy this game and pirate it instead. This was going to be the first game purchase I have made in a while, but for every delay I am taking 10 dollars off the game I am willing to pay. I don't know of any game that I have ever wanted that has been held in front of my face for so long that a delay can no longer make my any more angry. All I can say know is Fuck you EA.. they wonder why their stock is going down, all the potential investors are waiting for fucking spore!

What's so frustrating about all of this is the bait-and-switch that they keep doing. I'd much rather hear them say "We're not going to tell you the release date yet" than this nonsense about "You'll get the release date at the end of January!", and then giving us riddles and vagueness.

4SPORE: The release date wasn't ever in March, march is the end of the 2008 fiscal year, Spore is out of this fiscal year since the latest delay.

Actually came to this site again after half a year to see some new game content but nada... I hope they'll be able to keep my interest in the game. I've seen the same vids 100x times by now. EA is weeding out the weak...they want to know who really, really wants the game. lol :P They are probably just making sure that they don't release a crappy game that everyone says is bad, instead of releasing it now and having patches/expansion.

Honestly, as a survivor of the SimCitySocieties fiasco that EA decided to curse upon us all (I still can't play the game 3 months after release) I'm glad that they won't release spore with errors. Unfortunately it is definitely getting to the point of enough is enough. This whole thing is pretty ridiculous and I seriously believe the concept that spore is like bigfoot. At this point if EA doesn't realize the amount of potential consumers it is loosing by being as inefficient as possible then somewhere along the line of who works for who there needs to be a serious shakeup. This whole thing has gone on long enough to be just a really bad joke. At the very least we need to be given either a demo or a solid release date. No more of the vague information. I really wish Ea could see the fact that after years of delays, they finally are on the verge of alienating many potential buyers and turning away potential sales. While I don't advocate rushing the job as has happened with SCSocieties I feel its at the point where getting whatever perfect machine they envision is just impossible and to finally just give us the amazing game that has been presented by stolen camera videos and lucky as hell first hand experiences.

Spore and EA resembles that old Dungeon&Dragons Tv series, where EA is that Dungeon Master and Spore is the exit to the real world. Dungeon Master keep filling us with ridles leading to and exit to real world, wich we never find.

When they say Spring/Autumn release, they mean the Northern Hemisphere seasons, so between March and September I guess. The Prima Game guide for spore is still being released on June 3rd, someone suggested that the guide and game are often released around the same time. Here's hoping the game comes out before the guide.

What kind of lame news is this? They said they would provide a release date this is not a release date. Again EA games is speaking in riddles and will not give a release date even after they said this time they would. Since 2006 they have not given a actual release date. Every time they pull this spore gets delayed again. Since they are leaving room for another delay not saying the release date. Yay Holidays. (But Really That Could Be Anytime This Year Though, Darn)

One term of holidays that keep popping up in my head is the "Summer Holidays". Too bad He did not mention witch holidays, The "Summer Holidays" or the "Late Fall Holidays". They better not release it on Dec 20th 2008 11:59:59PM(last day of fall). Or i will be pissed.

Really, how someone still believe in any release date? Just forget about Spore until the day it's released, because all that we get from EA is "the game will be released some day". But don't forget about this site, because if any site will know when Spore comes out, this will be one of the firsts.

I believe that in most if not all cases "the holidays means christmas" such as in the song "Home for The Holidays"

"The Holidays" could mean a lot of thgings, it could be X-mas or the fourth of July or even Easter. Heck, it could even be hanukkah!

I came back just for this kind of news!!! This is amazing news! However, we cannot take anything EA says for granted. They've lied to us before. And, even if they aren't lying about the release date, they're probably using that good ol' EA double talk. "Before the holidays.." If it comes out December 23 than they technically weren't wrong. I still wish for a July-ish release!
