Haha...You guys were proven wrong so badly. Therefore, Total Spore is wrong, and so are the "3 different websites" lulz. xSpore - power to teh pe-ople!

I don't care if I am standing up to everyone, but I for one beleive that this is the official release date. I have been to their website an they are a true spore community, just like us. So, why would such an honest community take some cruddy info like that and immediately post it on a website where 1 million people may see it? If so, they would probaly secretly hate spore. One more thing: they are not incompetent. They are a very good, very honest website. It may not be exactly official, but it is close to it. With all due respect: YOU GUYS ARE BEING TOTAL NAYSAYERS. Sorry, I just had to get that out. Anyway, it might be true. You have no evidence of it being untrue.

Theres not an official release date, but I have heard news from 3 sites that he is aiming for the 12 of december if he cant sort out the bugs by then hes going for spring march preferably, if not then he will definatly have it by fall next year.

I think you guys are being a little hard on that site, after all he did cite a source (amazon.com) and that source does hav a good reputation for accuracy. It is also very likely, given Amazon's size that EA informed it of a release date. Also other interveiws say that Spore is almost done, so you guys are gonna look like jerks if the date is right.

I think you all jumped to conclusions. Its not like Kyle just made the date up. This seems like the most insignificant thing to start an inter-fansite war over. Frankly I don't think anyone with a good sense of, i don't know, manners would start mud flinging so quickly. If anyone comes over to TS, its obvious that were not just a bunch of idiots. (I know I'm going to offend somebody with this comment, so I'll apologize ahead of time)

Well, somewhat after the smoke clearing on this topic, I'll say that Kyle (the admin at totalspore) was stating that this date from Amazon.com is the first that they landed on a specific date, and that they (amazon) did this is the "official" date he's mentioned. Yes, the game has not gone gold, and nothing is set in stone until the first games ship, and that's where I remind everyone that "Official" doesn't mean "Actual." Kyle even stipulated this in his "Official Release Date" thread, so he's still being realistic here. I'll admit that I didn't totally agree on the way he disseminated this date, but I was totally taken for surprise when the firestorm around it started up. I knew it was only a matter of time before people (from both totalspore and xSpore) who didn't RTFA and get educated on the issue started to lay blanket accusations and mud sling the other side. Not a good way to get to the truth of the matter, IMHO. Anyways, I believe we've all learned our lessons here, and so, let's get on with life, and the counting down of days to when we finally load Spore on our PCs. ;2)

Whacked: Just because you can pre-order doesn't mean spore is coming out soon because i could have pre-ordered via EB games at about July 2006 and it hasn't come out yet. but that idea about the guild thing sounds pretty call; we could have totalspore as our archenemy

To Terras315: There is nothing wrong with one source or fansite letting people know that another source or fansite is full of it. It helps weed out the crap from the reality for the entire community. Also there is nothing wrong with a little competition between fansites--adds to the fun I think.

You never know... I've seen this happen once or twice before, where the company making the game would tell retailers the release date, but also tell them not to update their pages until XX/XX/XXXX, but there usually is one of them that jumps the gun lol...

I will bump their "Official" relese date thread after the proclaimed date passed and Spore is still not out (it won't be, because it is in this fiscal year) just to say "you fail".

Sorry for the double post =/... But I just was surfing around and have read that March 3rd should have been March 31... ala April 1st release date that was last reported... Hope that helps. =}

Well, I could be wrong, but I heard somewhere that March 8th could be a release date... Or maybe Pre sales... But April 1st was a target date that WW and Co. have set or not much later then that. (tho not set in stone) I have been keeping an eye on Amazon to see if and when pre sales would start. Maybe Amazon knows something we don't. Maybe not.. But the fact you can pre order has to mean that Spore is close to coming out.. Release date has yet TBD. Next step is getting our hands on the creature editor while we wait... I'm thinking PCG will have it in their Dec issue (next month). We can speculate all we want, WW has us in the palm of his hands and knows he cant hold out much longer. Nothing is set in stone, and Spore could very well ship March 3rd.. or the 8th.... BTW, maybe xSpore could start a guild section and we can all join a guild/clan.. That way when we name our creature it can look like this.. Spore FTW, the only reason I decided to post it as news is because their article hit front page digg. I knew it would make a lot of people, including our own members, wonder wtf was going on. So I addressed the issue.

I can't believe xSpore posted this as "News". It's not a huge deal! No matter where you go rumors are going to be made. Take this for example: Amazon creates fake release date to create hype so they can get more buyers, Total Spore chose to beleive it. Not the first time it's happend! Oh and I think xSpore is better. Many more updates ^_^

Absolutely hilarious. Amazon.com does NOT have an official release date -- you can pre-order it yes, but the game HAS NOT GONE GOLD. Thus, any date specified is completely unofficial and is probably incorrect -- it's well known that stores will estimate release dates -- this has been happening for the past ten years.

Unfortunately, I got my hopes up way too soon on this. My fault for not realizing that the digg.com story didn't link to an EA press release. Totalspore is off my bookmarks list now.
