The Spore Supersite
Soon to come : Spore Profiles
Multiplayer
There are currently no plans to make Spore multiplayer, nor will there ever be it seems, as Will Wright has always said no to this question. He has called the game "massively single-player", meaning that you cannot interact with other players planets, but you can download their creatures and put them in your game. Will Wright has explained that he wouldn't want to do multiplayer, because of the several bad possibilities. The person who owns that planet might not be playing the game, your planet gets blown up when you're not looking, etc. Another factor may be that Will's only flop to date was The Sims Online.

Sorry i acidently press "post comment berfor i could finish my comment starts below. The creatures of the players that got kicked off get controled by the computer so the tribes can still hunt other creatures. So now there are 50 tribes on the planet. So you need to ally or destroy 5 tribes to make it to civilization. In trible chat is still avaible and tribe members have a new bar for charisma. The longer you play the more they get tired so they dont obey orders as fast or they wander off and eat you olut of house and home. If you dont do any thing about it, they could start attacking there own tribe! The only way to get more charisma is to get other players to play a concert for you wich counts as allying. After 10 tribes reach civilization all other tribes get kicked off the planet. Now for the rest of tribes become cities and its played out like civilization except with actuall players. Now its the race to get to space. chat is still avaiable. If an alliance of maximum of 2 players are formed and they are the last standing they could battle it out or share the planet. So in space they could be seperate players with the same home. Space would be the funnest stage for multiplayer. because of chat and they could work together or fight. In combat, only colonies can be captured, the home planet is untochable so if an empire is destroyed it can rebuild its self. For galictic adventrues people can do adventrues together or prevent other players form completing the challenge! The Grox still ocupy the center of the universe but they dont really go out and attack other players. they just guard the center of the universe and if you take there planets they will fight back for it but will stop when they get it back. If Someone conqers 80 percent of the galixy and dosent leave any space for other players the grox go to action and attack your empire. The grox go to action they are harder then ever. Its possiable to beet them but you have to be exstremely skilled if you do beat them you will get an utimate badge to look like a spore legend to other players. Otherwise the grox will shred you till theres nothing left but your home planet. When a player looses intrest and dosent play for several months, the home planet is open for invasion. If a player recieves all the badges for there empire they can build there empire on other servers. This is the ulitmate mulitplayer game EVER!

When i played spore. It was fun! It was like being god! But soon it gets boring. Multiplayer gives a bigger insentive to keep playing. heres my idea! For those familiar with spore when it opens up it shoes the universe then zooms up on your galixy, planets are aviable to play on. On the side it has options Play, Create, Share, and maybe galactic adventures. Below that they shood have the option " Online play" If you click on that the galixy zooms out so you can see the whole universe. All the other galixies are other severs you can play on. Click the sever you want and it will zoom up. Pick a planet. Everyone MUST start on cell stage. Once you register your creatures diet and name you click start. Depending on what time you start you could start right away or have to wait. When at least 200 players register on that planet the game starts. Everyone is a cell and must race to creature stage as fast as possiable. players can chat with one another and work together. Or they could battle it out in the race to evlolve. Eventually players will reach creature stage. Creatures grow eat, attack, and sing. chat is still avaible. Once agian players race to get to trible stage. Players can creat frenships and packs to make it there. Players can also trade evolution parts if they are allies. Players must reach trible stage quickly because once there are 50 tribes the computer will kick of all the other players off the planet so they have to start over on another planet.

I think that if spore does turn muti player you should have an option at the begining of the game to join a galaxy, start your own, or make your own single player game.

mmorpg would be sweet, but make the planet(s), galaxies, etc as "Unavailable" when that person isn't online, but only allow an attack on it if that person is online.

I was addicted to spore, until it became redundant, multiplayer would be great
10. Teh Guest - Feb 26, 2009 01:47 PM
When I started playing spore I was addicted beyond belief. I played it constantly for about 2 weeks and then the game came to a screeching halt. This halt was a direct result of pure redundancy regarding the interaction with computer elements; protect your ally/yourself against hostile attacks, kill contaminated species, deliver species, teraform planets, and destroy your enemies or try to ally with them. At first glance this doesn’t appear redundant at all, and for 2 weeks it isn’t a bad mix of interaction. However, After 2 weeks it becomes a nightmare because the player has to do those same exact things almost an infinite amount of times until they either get bored (like I did in 2 weeks); or until they populate and rule the spore universe. After finding earth, it came down to two final options; Ally the grox and/or fight the grox, it meant destroying planets in the same manner and same difficulty so redundantly that I became “sp0red 0ut”. Is this what Will Wright wanted; folks to get hooked on such a creatively vast and unfortunately boring after 2 weeks game? Multiplayer would add an incentive to keep playing. In the developer’s video, there was the suggestion of “visiting other players planets”. This was advertising the ability to interact with planets belonging to other players. This is not true because the player would have to redesign the other players planet in order to visit it. Without multiplayer spore will collect dust on my shelf. And I will tell my friends that it is incredible for 2 weeks and 2 weeks only.

Greenthings !!! Its a multi without tha warring ...rathe like this...:: The thefreedictionary.com explains SPORE as follows: "a small, usually single-celled reproductive body that is highly resistant to desiccation and heat and is capable of growing into a new organism" ..... Thus when you get to find another race on 1 of tha billiosn of chances and you get to MERGE or FUSE to INTEGRATE into a NEW SPECIES of SPORE..... all thats left is to decide WHO GETS TO BE THE NEXT BREEDmaster ..... wandering what could become off .... all the inBread creativity.... alas .....wha may willl wright ??? Shine On !!

Dammit, I forgot to login... Teh Guest comment of single empire multiplayer is MEEEHH!! :p
15. Teh Guest - Oct 07, 2008 04:31 AM
How about a different idea? Instead of making multiplayer centered around each player having his own race (which adds an infinite amount of problems concerning the AFK issue), why not just let both or more players be allies, or rather from the same race, each with his own customizable UFO, that sets out to expand their empire by doing either lone missions, since they would basically be able to traverse the galaxy completely independant of each other, or (by addition to the multiplayer expansion) specific missions that can only be completed with co-op. Every planet colonized can be customized solely by the player who conquered/captured it. And in addition the Grox should have their difficulty level upped to INSANEEE proportions, opting for both players to fight co-operatively to succeed. Just an idea, but it would be OSSIM! to see SPORE evolve into a fully playable LAN game.
16. Kiryn - Sep 22, 2008 08:13 AM
I think a good solution to this problem would be that every player has a home planet that CANNOT be destroyed. Then they can take over NPC planets in the region etc etc and those planets can be attacked and taken over/destroyed by other players... Would be very interesting imho.
17. krzycho50 - Sep 20, 2008 10:01 AM
i agree with that problem with offline planets but it there still can be lan game type. For example- when one of friends are afk for more than 3 minutes game pause, and wait for him to get back or if he will not be back in around 7 minutes it kicks him. when starting a game host will chose from where we start - civilization era and all other. of course, 2-8 players will not be good for that big solar systems world so there still can play some npc. I think it is very good idea. i've been thinking about it some time and i havent found any problems. ps- sorry for my english im from Poland :D

i got the game and enough on my graughics card but it still says i dont have enough
19. Chainsore - Sep 12, 2008 10:22 PM
Someone will probably make one for the game, you just got to wait a bit. I recon that it could be turned into some kinda mmorpg that would be pretty cool i recon. :D
20. roboscorcher - Sep 11, 2008 12:22 PM
I don't want to ally with NPC's, I want to ally with friends! An destroy them, too.
21. Teh Guest - Sep 10, 2008 04:45 PM
Killer phil, your uber right about all that with the turrets n stuff, it would be nice to have a great multiplayer systems... be able to like... make a private universe, with galaxies and basically make that server with your friends and only your friends too...
22. ant2008hotpotat - Sep 08, 2008 04:23 PM
A easy way to include a multiplayer in spores would be not to make it massive multiplayer. It would be easy to add an option that allow players to start games together in the same world, but it would be like most of the game, when a player as to go the game could be saved and continued another time, when all players could meet together. It wouldn't be as dynamic as a battle.net or something like that but it would at least allow players to play with their friends in the same game.
23. Nosferatu - Sep 03, 2008 11:05 AM
Alright ppl, it is very simple, this game will never go FULLY multiplayer because that would make the game about combat, while the game is suposed to be about creativity and exploration. It is multiplayer ENOUGH, you can import your friends planet and do whatever you wish with it. Yes it would be possible to make this game so that it would be a playeble multiplayer game but it will never happen because thats not what the game is ABOUT, making this game go multiplayer is like playing tennis with a handgranate, its possible, but it still shouldn't be done!
24. jako.spore - Sep 01, 2008 08:17 PM
you could make the game where you choose play multi player or byeyourself. And play byourself untill you evovle far enough to play multiplayer.
25. shifter98 - Aug 29, 2008 07:02 AM
Well it easily could be that more than one plauer are on a plantet and that would make it to where you had to fight for your power over the other players so it makes it a game on elimination, and there be other planets with players on it but only a few that dont ...... to be continued
