spore unplayable in the space stage.

Spore is barely playable at the space stage. It's god aweful.

First. The missions are in the form of: Goto location A, do something, back to location B. The problem is there are so many systems that i have to spent literally minutes to read them all on screen and find the system/planet i need to go to. It's true that most of them are close to the system that you took the objective from, but, yeah, it's still a major pain in the ass.

Second, the most annoying thing in Spore. Pirates and enemy civilizations are constantly attacking my planets. Like, babysitting a whole kindergarden by myself is less work than: flying back to the system, fighting pirates/enemy civilizations, repairing cities from losses... Like, the whole process of only restoring defenses and building chains is terrible time consumer. And that is if you take into account that i am a pacifist, i am surrounded by Allies - everything is green, and even like that, they still fight me.

I'm telling ya. I go to adapt a planet to living conditions, the minute i start fixing atmosphere/temperature, bam - you are under attack. I go to counter attacks, and when i come back - the planet is destabilized again, and i have to repeat the whole process.

So wtf? This game is totally making me ditch the cities and do simple trade runs of spice from point a to point b and figure out how to progress trough the dense minefields that are the enemy territories..

What is your experiences.

I think you should read the other thread. It helped me.

There is still hope.

I abandoned my home planet and went far away to start new colonies. Now they no longer cry for help ... maybe they arn't there any more

Hence why I'm becoming a peaceful herbivore.

Can you go back and play stages you beat, and playing them won't effect the stage your presently on? If you can, then I'll just go back and play aggresivly for fun.

1. One of the overlays you can activate is a waypoint system that draws a line from where you are to the system where your mission is. Sometimes the correct system is unknown, so it will draw a red circle around the approximate area where the star is. You should be able to activate these layers in the overlay control in the bottom left corner of the screen.

2. This happened to me a lot at first, too, but I've cut down on it considerably. First, make sure to arm all your cities with turrets. It seems to discourage attacks, and when they do happen the cities are able to defend themselves somewhat, making it easier for you to destroy the attackers. Second, make nice with aggressive empires in the areas around you. If they demand money, pay up. If you have enough stored up, travel to one of their stars and try to but a peace treaty (PROTIP: be sure not to choose the lowest available tribute amount -- they'll get insulted and continue the war, but still take the money). One you've ended hostilities, run missions for them and open trade routes to improve relations and keep their demands for tributes low.

All of this is expensive work, so in your spare time be sure to found new colonies and collect and sell Spice from the ones you already own. If you get into a tight spot with low money and demands for tribute from enemies on all sides, you could easily lose the game -- no money means no peace offerings, no repair funds, no colony expansions, and eventually no more worlds left standing.

Oh, and lots of people are saying that aggresive species are doomed to constant attacks from others. But I played aggressively in every previous stage, and still managed to cut down attacks to almost nothing using the above steps. The only raids I get now are from pirates.

Good luck...

I tried the space stage on easy, and capturing planets with just your one ship and about 20 enemy shps and turrets on the enemy planet is literally impossible.

I have one ally slot. The ally normally blows up in like a few hits.

Why exactly am I only allowed to have on ship and be expected to fly across the whole universe to defend my plnets when the enemy has like hundreds of ships?

That is really fair?

I guess that space stage has to be extra hard and annoying because all the other stages were too easy.

Kind of. When you progress you will earn the right to take more allies. However they all pretty much suck, have low health etc. Also, when they die, you loose Happy points with the Civilization that gave you it's ship, so you must also keep them safe. IF you are spoiled rich, then buy repair packs...

Then, i guess you are trying to conquer a huge planet with lots of cities. Aim for the weaker ones first. I find many planets with just one city and very few turrets, but with some space ships, though.

Jordan117, thanks for the tips. There is one enemy civilization near me that is attacking me constantly. I though of befriending them, but takes A LOT of money, like millions and millions, which i don't have. So i have chosen to extinguish them . And it's kinda easy, really. I am a scientist and my special power is some kind of Gravity Destabilizer - it destroys all cities on a planet at once. I just ninja in enemy territory and nuke 'em, like a futuristic terrorist . Fun. I will report when i have extinguished the infidels. Captain out. :P

I think you're doing it wrong.. I absolutely love space phase. I'm not at war with anybody. My brother's complaining about war too, but I don't have any.

Also, I'm omnipotent by now. I have a lot of tools and if I get into a war, I just destroy their planets. Fuck them, muwhahahaha!

So anyway, you have to fly around a bit sometimes, but I have no trouble finding planets and systems.

I've done it on my own on normal, beat that. All you need is a bunch of powerfull weapons, shield and a bit of tactics. I've done this more than once, and they were homeplanets so they were loaded with cities, turrets and aircrafts.

So here's what I did. I burst into the atmosphere. Of course, there will be enemy UFO's scrambling all around you, so you put your shield on. Then you zap them all down with a powerfull lazer (that's what I do) or with another weapon that's effective. Then you fly around to cities and either zap every turret, or just bomb it to destroy it immediately. You need pretty powerfull bombs to do the last though. Anyway, destroying all the turrets is usually the safest way. Note: Your shield stays on for a relatively long time. In that time, you can destroy pretty much every big group of enemy UFO's. Be sure to load up some energy packs too, just in case. Weapons really drain your energy.

I'm also rather peacefull... Have now around 15-20 T3 planets with 3 cities, full turrets and that thing that over your planet flies. Most times I don't react and nothing got stolen. It also helps when the 3 cities are close by each other.

I know what you mean, I drove myself into a hole I couldn't get out of without cheats. I was unlucky enough to have two countries declare war on me at the same time. After a couple of hours of fighting all I had left was my homeworld (which was getting pummeled every two minutes.)

The only thing I could do was type in the "moremoney" cheat a couple of times and pay off the two empires to stop the war. After a couple hours of strengthening my defenses, getting filthy rich, and having two good allies I started a war with those two countries and destroyed them with extreme prejudice. Paybacks a bitch.

Oh that feels good. So i actually destroyed all of the oppressor, that was attacking me. His name was stupid also, something in the lines of SIR BLABLABLA. All bow to the almighty Gravity Gun Thingie. So after i killed all of them, and saw the notice that the empire has been destroyed, all of their remaining ships turned into pirates, who were in the neutral mode, lol. All than on hard mode.

Now, being friends with my surroundings, NOTHING attacks me, except some pirate scum, now and then. Feels good. Game is actually NOT broken.

So, whoever plays the badass, meaning - wage war at everything, all he has to do is destroy them all. One thing that will help is to recall what Megatron is saying and thinking all the time: DESTROY!

Haha, funny. I'm social, but I have the Planet Destroyer thingymajick because I got the Colonist 5 badge. So if I ever get into a war, I just destroy their homeplanet and take over the rest. Oooh, I'm already looking forward to it.

You know, it's your fault that you absolutely suck at it, not the game's fault. Guess what, I'm omnipotent and I can destroy every enemy I have without any problems (except for the Grox...for now). You're doing it wrong, not the game.
