I am a bit confused.
To my understanding you can't be friend with others to reach the space stage, and you must conquer them.
Also spice geysers in middle of sea sounds a bit weird.

You conquer them buy converting them religiously, buy buying them out or by doing it the old fashioned way, so no you cant befriend them but you can don't have to kill them.

I wonder if you get to space through diplomacy/religion does that mean you start off with allies? Or do you all sort of count as one species?

NOEZ NOEZ NOEZ! ALL WRONG! You can have about 4 spaceships flying with you. IF, you have any allies in civ, and if they graduate into space with you, the fly around ruling the galaxy. :P. I think you also can do it in space.... maybe they played wrond :P.

Unlike the Tribal stage, you're already all one species in the Civ stage.

There are just different civilizations with your creature in it and you take control of one of one of those civilizations.

Think of it this way:
With our species here on Earth, there were at least two different species during our Tribal phase; us and Neanderthals. We won the Tribal phase and we are the only species left. Now we're in the Civ phase

Back to the game, you can conquer the other civilizations with military force, convert them to your religion, or turn them over to capitalism. Once you take over all the other civilizations, your planet is united as one empire.


Where did you hear that?

They've said in the videos that you only get one UFO for your entire species, and that other friendly UFOs that might help you against enemies are allies you make during the Space phase.

How many UFOs you have has nothing to do with Civ phase; you only get one, no matter what.

D'oh. I ment the FRIENDLY UFOs! By "gaining more UFOs. Your right and im right. Amirite?
