This is kinda an answer to Gigify's thread "Simple Wallpaper"

I saw alot of people using the graphics from the Flash intro on spore.com so i thought i'll make some of my own. They were surprisingly easy to make.




Dude, this is what i meant with what i said about your wallpaper, i didn't want to offend you in any way!

Looks good, I just don't get where the green slash comes from.

Yes, I'll admit it would have been easy to make my own "flash intro" graphics, but I tried to explain that I didn't feel that it was worth my time for the point of the wallpaper.
When I made the wallpaper it was just meant to be something thrown together very quickly that looked decent and I could use as a wallpaper on my own desktop, then I decided to share it because the people on the board were nice to me. There was no plan to enter it into the contest, no claim that it was an awesome or wonderful wallpaper.

You have to understand that I have better things to do with my time than make custom graphics for something that means basically nothing to me. I've made custom graphics for things before when I was helping my friend build his website a few years back, I made donation wallpapers for him and produced a small webcomic with hand-drawn images, but that was different; You see I was getting PAID for doing that, it was worth my time because he brought in about $40 in donations a month and I was paid $0.25 of every dollar donated to help him program and run the site.

I have a life, I'm a college student and just recently got a full-time job. I honestly do not have time to work seriously on a wallpaper that I'm going to be throwing away in a month and that I'm not going to be receiving anything for the time spent on it. I make simple wallpapers out of pre-made graphics because they take ten minutes or less to get everything just perfectly how I want them and they do not interrupt my life. If they're for me and not making me money or earning me anything, why should I be expected to spend so much time on them?

I applaud you for having the time and energy to make so many wallpapers. Unfortunately, I do not. Just because someone isn't able to put as much effort into something as you does not mean you need to argue with them about it or show them up, it's just immature and shows that you are basically incapable of understanding how others function and that it may, in fact, be different than how you function.

In the future, please just try to be more respectful of others. Everyone is different, everyone does things in a different way for a different reason. You just need to be able to see that.

Leave Gigify alone. He's x10 better than you, because he isn't whining about people using the flash intro to make backgrounds. Big deal if they are. There's a market for those things.

Amusing, dude, plainly comedic! You may want to read the last sentence under the wallpaper? I didnt want to offend him or anything in that way! And no i didn't feel an urge to kill myself yet!

and Gigify... i have no time either because im about to get my A levels - but i feel a certain urge to make the best out of everything im making. I think your way of making Art shows others what kind of human you are so i tend to put in all of my heart and time i can spent in the stuff. This would have been BETTER but i ran out of time what saddens me.

By the way; Thank you for liking it - You are a polite goodsport (we can actually see the opposite ontop this post what slowly gets usus in the net - sadly) and i wish you the best for your newly grown Career

Yes, I think that I do not put much effort into something that I can't get anything out of does show what kind of person I am, to an extent.
What it says to me is that I am cynical, and that I feel like many things do not matter in the grand scheme. The situation is that this is only with things such as this, a fleeting thing that I will not carry with me and will show no bearing on my life as a whole.
When I draw seriously, I spend an hour to two hours on a single drawing alone, and they come out beautifully; I have even been paid good money for some of my drawings. When I play my guitar I put as much time as I can into practicing and play at least two complete songs as well as I can before I put it down. When I'm writing a book I pour myself into it, and yes I've written a few and never looked for a publisher; though I was offered once by a teacher who was friends with one and read one of my books.
The difference for me is that digital artwork is not one of my artistic "flavours". If I feel slim to no joy in creating something I'm not going to do my best creating it, especially if I'm not getting anything else out of it.
I think you could understand the basis of what I was trying to say, and I hope this will clear it up.

Also, please do not talk down to Frost. If you can try to step out of your shoes, he's not the only one who feels as though you've been patronizing me. Other people have mentioned it, my brother even read some of your posts and said, "What the fuck is this kid's problem?". I think you need to be less critical of everyone else; you can't hold people to your standards and expect them to know how they should act or even submit to your standards. People have differing personal opinions, you may understand that, but perhaps you need to let that be the way things are and not work against it. Your word is not law, your thoughts are not gold. To act in a way otherwise is futile and will only prove to make people stand against you.

I'm glad this little event is over with, may it never surface again.
