Well Shortage of sources or not, heres my submission.

i read somewhere about Will Wright being inspired by "powers of 10", which is the same concept as fractals.

Here's the last update(i think) on mine.

just a quick throw together the quality is really bad but what the hek it was a quick job to get some ideas i'll do some quality ones up at some point (probably after some e3 pics if they are released).

To say the least, the latest submissions have been excellent. It's enjoyable to hear background stories associated with the images -- such as the Power of 10. The designs are very impressive.

Seeing as this area is picking up momentum, it may be a good time to discuss the workings of the contest. So, without further ado, here is a brief run-down:

Like all art, the quality and value should be determined by the viewers. Accordingly, it will be up to the members of xSpore.com to determine who is Grand Champion of the wallpaper contest. This will be achieved through a voting mechanism that will be implemented on a later date.

Once the voting system has been implemented onto the site, vote for your favorite submissions. At the end of every month, the submission with the most votes will be victorious and placed into an "Untouchable" category and the polls will be reset. Submissions that do not win one month's poll are eligible for any amount of available future polls. The month before the official release of the game, every submission previously voted "Untouchable" will again be put up to the test of a racking up the most votes in order to determine the Grand Champion.

There will be a prize for the winner of the contest - which has yet to be determined but expect it to be Spore-related. A more detailed explanation of the contest will be made available shortly. If there is an interest in including more than one category in this contest, please voice it!

why dont we do a competition for each thing the editor will have... (other than planet)

like floral, building, vehicle, UFO, and creature... we have one for wallpaper and creature so far, why not do the rest...?

creature is funner :P plants and buildings and things are more for show the creature does things
