Spore Doesn't Work on 5G mac with leopard
Hi there,
I'm trying to install spore on my 5G mac with leopard, but it won't work, it says something about having to have the new imac (G6-the one with the black faceplate)? what can I do to fix this? Is there a patch of some sort? thanks, DanZaMan4251 |

Make sure your mac is using a INTEL processor, Spore is NOT compatible with G5/4/3 CPUs.
Edit: You probably have to buy a new computer. However if you do, DON'T get a Mac if you just want to use it for Spore since it runs like CRAP on macs ![]() I would recommend something like a Gateway if your really cheap.

Spore doesn't work on any pre- Intel Macs.
Spore runs perfectly well on Intel Macs, in fact, it runs better on my MacBook Pro than on most Desktop/laptop PC's with Vista and equal-to-slightly better hardware. And, Macs are perfectly upgradable. You just have to get a MacPro (The tower) for full upgrade-ability, and even the Laptop and iMacs are upgradable to an extent, moreso than most all-in-ones and laptops. |

Except for the fact that if you alter one piece of a Mac it stops running as smoothly because it's designed around the stock hardware and not the possibility of being upgraded. The reason Macs run well when you first get them is because the setup is designed from the ground up to run smoothly with the hardware it comes with, and for the same price you could get a better computer that's not a gimmick for fashionable people who feel like they need to be part of some unseen community, for a good chunk less you could build your own computer that's a hell of a lot better. I guess Macs turn me off so bad because their users are basically all pretentious assholes who seem to wish their Macs could sex them in the ass. I mean your computer may be able to run so-and-so at 35fps on Windows with boot camp, but mine could run it at 70+ and it didn't even cost as much as an equivalent Mac. I just don't see the point unless you're one of those poseurs who think they're some kind of artist but are too damn lazy to go get real professional software for your "art" so you sit there behind your Mac acting like its creativity software is actually the best possibly creativity software out there when really it's basically shit when you stack it up to the real competition. What I'm trying to say is that if you want to play games, but you still just have to have a Mac, don't run Windows with boot camp on it, just buy a second computer for like $750 to play the games on. If you replace a piece of stock hardware with a piece of hardware which wasn't designed to run with it, you'll have issues (For instance, if you replace a GeForce card with a non-Geforce card you'll have an issue, but as long ask you stick to same 'family' you'll be fine). Quote:
You dislike macs, and that's fine. I don't take issue with that. What I do take issue with is your blatantly incorrect remarks. Quote:
Macbooks with bootcamp (called Macbook XP's) run windows more efficiently than a similarly equipped "PC." Don't believe me? Go google it. Quote:
You're being pretentious and ignorant, and rather than actually learn about someone elses opinion, you've prejudged and made a fool of yourself. There are about a million reasons to go with a PC instead of a Mac, but to say that there's no reason to get a mac, or the only poeple who get them are 'poseurs' is blatantly and hilariously incorrect and ignorant. Good day sir. |

CEASE THIS OSFAGGOTRY AT ONCE.
In all seriousness, I actually don't give a shit if you use windows or leopard or linux or DOS or some obscure japanese port of some even more obscure OS. It seems like we've reached a consensus that it's your processor that's causing the problem. Also, from what I've gathered, it looks like if you replace it with intel it will give your computer the virtual counterpart to AIDS. Looks like you're stuck, unless you want to fork out the cash for a computer JUST for spore. Sorry.

Which puts a limit on upgrade-ability that shouldn't be there in the first place. Quote:
I don't dislike Macs, I dislike the people like you who own them and won't admit what they really are. Right here you're using a straw-man argument, you made no statements contradicting what I actually said, you just said I didn't know what I was talking about and moved on. My statement was perfectly fine, Macs are more expensive than a computer on Windows or Linux running similar or the same hardware. Quote:
Who said anything about running Windows more efficiently? You're taking a statement about something completely different and bending it to your own words, another fallacy? For shame. Besides that it's still all based on your setup. Macs won't always run it better. What I was talking about was games. In games, especially First Person Shooters, bootcamp significantly lowers framerates between a Mac and a similar computer running Windows. Quote:
Again, a direct attack with no backing up of your statements, straw-man right there. I have plenty of idea what Macs are, we worked with them in the computer hardware/software lab at school in computer electronics class. I'm not branding them with my own stereotype, I'm reinforcing a pre-existing stereotype that you've basically served to back up. Being pretentious and ignorant is not something I do, trust me. I know a lot about what you seem to think you know about just because you own a Mac. Also, right there, that little part -- you've prejudged and made a fool of yourself -- is assumptive garbage that makes you look like an idiot when the person you're trying to look down on shoves your argument right back in your face. I suggest you stop talking like a Mac-user and more like someone who doesn't prove my point that most Mac users are pretentious assholes at the exact same time you're trying to disprove it. Who said there was no reason to get a Mac? Again you're using fallacies to build a non-existent argument. What I said was that, personally, I see no reason to get a Mac. The rest was just Mac-troll bait that you took like an advertisement for an iPhone 3G. Good job looking like a dick on the internets. Please don't try to argue this anymore, I know I'm right and if you think otherwise just keep it to yourself because I am not in the mood for a three page topic of me bashing down every point you try to make but you still won't give up. Anything else you post here will only make you look bad, especially if you hold onto the tone of arrogance that flows from your previous post. Last edited by Gigify : 10-18-2008 at 01:16 AM. |
