Questions after Aprils Interview

Watching that interview turned out to be a bad idea for me, as it raised much more questions than it put down.
Question 1: Phase skipping.
Ok, so how are our worlds going to be populated with creatures and CIVs? I know personally that given the option I would jump right to space stage. But then what is my base city going to be? How will my creature have evolved? What about the other Civs on my planet?

Question 2: Use an editor anywhere.
What will I be able to do once this creature is made? Just stare at it, or put it down and use it? Will I still have my original CIV in the UFO stage, with a little secondary creature running about?

Question 3: REAL Phase jumping.
Once I get to the UFO stage, will I be able to go down and control one of my individual creatures? I was personally hoping to make a super fast carnivore and go exotic game hunting on other planets, and it looks like that might be possible now...Thing is, we can't tell if they just meant: You can reset yourself in any stage, or you can use one creature and jump between stages (assuming you've evolved up maybe).

1. Maybe you will have a chance to create all your things at once. 1 race, 12 buildings, 4 kinds of vehicles, and 1 UFO
It's not impossible.

2. Maybe you can put them down as an enemy race, so you could create the whole ecosystem, even in the creature phase

3. (to Jimmy) It was the SXSW video

4. Probably this is only a sandbox version, not the full game, so it might be still possible to play through without this freedom, like in SimCity 4, where you could always turn on "godmode", and change the terrain, cause disasters, etc., but you could turn it off and play in "Mayor mode".

Question 1: I imagine you can choose from a creature database. Or there will be a feature that lets you make a creature then and there, no need to collect DNA points or anything. Your creatures' aggression and socialness may be sliders you choose from then.

Question 2: Yes, there will still be computer creatures on your planet throughout civ and space phase. Creatures you make in the space phase may be deployed in little zoos and moved about by your UFO. You probably won't be able to get in their heads and directly control them, though.

Question 3: Yes, you can get out of your UFO. What is you can actually do is so far unknown, however.

Yes, I have seen this too indeed. It's a video where Will Wright places a Monolith on a planet and goes down to see if he's being worshipped. Turns out he isn't. xD Funny video.

Sadly, I tried to find it but can't. I've got no idea which one it is, but it is on Youtube! If you search for yourself you'll probably find it.

I for one love this new "Jump to" feature. It opens up the game a ton!

Now i know i can just open up the creature editor and make a cool creature just to show my friends and not have to worry about it surviving or having to work up enough parts and points to make it.

It kinda gives Spore the feel of 5 seperate games that can also transition smoothly to make 1 epic game, along with having several creative tools to publish my imagination.

I feel that doing this will help Spore's replay value a lot without taking away anything, or adding somthing pointless. plus i think it will draw in more players because it will give everyone what they are looking for right out of the box, and more players = more content, which is good for everyone.

At this point, if Spore is only $50, I'd call it the greatest deal since The Orange Box! Hell id pay $100 for Spore on its release at this point, and i wont even tell you how much i would pay to play it now!!

As for myself I will play threw all the stages of the game. Now I might be tempted to go to the space age. One question that I thought of is how many creatures can you make and play threw the game with? Like is it going to be like the Sims were you can just keep save as many as you want to?

Im sure you can make and play as many Creatures as you'll need. Im sure ill play through the full game, but now i think ill probably have another planet that ill start at the space phase. Being able to choose any of the phases/editors will keep me occupied for a long time.

Personaly i reckon its stupid being able to "Jump Phase" in Spore coz what is the. There is not much sense of being able to jump phase because Spore is about going through all the stages of evolution, if you jump phase then you just skip so many stages. Also being able to get into the creature editor at any point in the game is pretty stupid to coz if you just get a couple of DNA points obviously your just gonna go straight to the creature editor just to get a part, say if i was in the cellular phase, its really tough for me because there are huge guys swimming around me, so all im gonna do is collect some DNA and go to the creature editor straight away to get a better weapon, instead of collecting a specific ammount to get into the editor or watever.

I think your missunderstanding the "Jump" thing. Im pretty sure the game will function exactly as it was always going to. Its not that you can "Skip" right to the creature editor during play. It's that you can go to the editor from the Main Menu at any time. You will still have to earn everything the hard way to get to it when progressing through the Creature Phase. It's for people who just want to pump out content to have in their game. But once your in the game its back to normal gameplay.

Incase I got all jumbled up (im tired) ill review:
There are no changes to the actual Spore game, They have just added that you can start from any phase you want and access any editor from the Main Menu.

Its like if you want to create an entire story about your creature, you can go from Cell to Space. But if you just want to make content or play a particular part of the game, you can Jump to it. Spore is still Spore, but with a lot more freedom, and since Freedom = Good, everyone should be haaapppyyy!

Time for sleep...

Yeh well thanks for clearing that up for me, it really help and made me understand more. Because as i said i wouldnt really see the point if you could just jump phase and go to the creature editor whenever you want.

Well if you want to begin play at the Tribal phase, obviously you'll either need to load a preset or make your creature all in one go before you start gameplay. I don't think that would ruin the game. It's not like you HAVE to skip around; it's your choice whether you want to or not.
