If they have the Creature Editor polished and completed, then why don't they give it to us as a demo?

why waste the man power trying to have the creature creator working independent from the rest of the game when i'm sure there already pushing hard to just get the game out.

so it comes down to...game out sooner or get a demo and wait.

Demos don't make you wait. They DEMOnstrate the game. Releasing it first is just a bonus. And even if they released it after it would benefit them cause even more people would be making content then wanted to play the full version.

i believe their strategy is to release the demo a few weeks before the game came out so that the server is populated with content.

Their finished, its delayed for business purposes, the demo release won't affect it.

I'm fairly sure EA wants it released at the beginning of their fiscal 2009 year. I'm not sure why they aren't just giving us a release date but there's probably a good reason.
The Creature Editor demo should be around a few months before the games release, as we've been told.

For the same reason why they don't realease too much screenshots yet.
Probably it will advertise the game. They will release it around March/April, a few weeks before the real game, so this time it will be big news, and everyone, even non-Spore fans will be hyped.
If they would release it now, normal people would play it for a few days and forget it later, at the release date time.

Months before release? I'd only count on a few weeks at best, for reasons already said.

Probaly they are just fixing bugs and stuff like that so it won't freeze on you then everyone will be angry

I've been wondering that for a while, in fact it's how i found this site; google searching "spore demo" and it brought me here like a year ago.

It's just not like maxis to release a demo at all really. They haven't done it yet, to my knowledge".
