So, I just heard of this, apparently there is going to be some kind of Sporepedia, where you can get information about how the creature was created. I wonder if you can write a little bio about the creature; i would assume you could sine how else would this be a useful feature? but anyway, what would you all think would be contained in this type of feature?

Speed:
Defense:
Social:
Etc.

Just basic stats I think. I mean, yeah it would be awesome if you could write a bio; but consider this, what if a nefarious prepubescent child decides to write of the behavior of Wang-Man... Hmm, does Will Wright really want that? Also if you could add bios, that would mean you couldn't send small procedurally generated packets around.

I have no doubt we'll be seeing some inappropriate creatures once the game is out. WW gave us the tools--anything we do with them are fair game. Which is both good and bad.

I highly doubt Maxis will assign people to look for "bad" creatures and remove them from the databases. Though, maybe there will be a "report creature" button...

i believe there is a way in sporepedia to search for your friend's creatures.

there better be something to filter out bad content because there are way to many ass-holes out there that will fill spore with a shit-load of monster that i wouldn't want to EVER see again and spam it with one sick creation after another and I SWEAR if i run into a penis monster, some one WILL die, Period!!!!!

Sporepedia will be a inGame content browser that holds all player made content for all to see and select to put in their game, rate, flag (if inappropriate), or bookmark/friend the creator.It may also be possible to take others content into the editors and build upon them. I don't see why not, creating and sharing ftw.

I'm also wondering if there will be a Chat or Mailing System between players thats inGame. inGame community is in fact one of the Pros of an MMO world, and Will was hoping to get as many Pros without the Cons but still allow each character to b the hero of there own game.

My Creatures!

I won't mind one, maybe two penis creatures in my universe. For All I know somewhere out there in our universe there is an animal that has evolved into just one big penis. Not likely but possible. I think penis creatures wont be as bothersome as the actual creatures some people especially little kids create coming into the game. I will be doing alot of cleaning(killing) in my universe. Unless blocking someones design right away takes the creature out of the game.

If i find penises in my universe I will first KILL THEM ALL except one, and put into a zoo and mistreat it and be nasty to it. (it's amazing how emotional i get over computer games isn't it?) and then I'll flaga it and get it banned from the sever.

Anyway from what I've herd the sporepida also has the home planet creator name and other useless crap along with it. ( I think bio not sure because it was a long time ago). Well at least each card is a link to the creators profile, so you know who created it and what style they like.

Ehem... yeah... back on topic. The thing that will be hard about censoring creatures is that someone may make something inappropriate and mask it as something else, so the creatures can't tell if it is meant to be immature spam or just a coincidence.

Its a very cool idea.
I'm sure there will be a group of people out there who will be dedicated to amassing a large database, a new sport almost... who can record the most creatures?

Do you really think that there will be lots of penises? I bet some jerk somewhere will think its funny, but im sure that it will get flagged quickly and done away with. What I'm wondering is if some ppl will just go crazy in the creature editor and flood the system with a bunch of slugs...

im sure that WW and EA have already realized that almost everyone will make at least 1 penis, in their spore life...
im sure they're creating some way to filter them, maybe through a rating system like you mentioned...
as long as their is some sort of equilibrium, and you remain in the middle of the food chain,
i dont think well have to worry about there being 50 million species of slugs,
cause each planet may only get 1 slug species.

blah, who knows,
i would just really love to be playing spore right now.

If the likelihood of penis creatures is as high as I fear I might be, then I will be forced to make the arch-nemesis of all penis monsters in existence: The dreaded zipper beast. Regardless of how many truly awful beasties that get made I am excited at the really amazing ones that show up. A rating system would be much welcomed but than again there will be something very 1960s Star Trek(ish) about landing on a planet only to discover it is inhabited by something that looks like it belongs in the left over dish in the back of your fridge.

If I had any of those creatures in my planet, I would bomb the s*** out of them.
