Ok, a few months ago befor many of you join Dreamache created a rule that you should only have 3 lines in your signature. He also said have a little lee way about it. the general rule of thumb is the longer your avarge post the longer your signature is allowed to be.

Now this rule has gone out of the window and the forum is starting to look messy. So please shortern your sigies. Ok if its 4/5 lines of solid text it look alright but if its only a few word on each line then that just taking it to far. I would go round changing people's singatures but it would take too long. So I'd like to see shorter signatures within the next weeek or so.

I don't know. I'm not setting a rule that says £ line go over and I'll kill you. Its got to be a few thing.
1. It mustn't look like a waste of space.
2. It can't be spam.
3. It's mustn't be lots of diffrent colours.
4. Most importantly it's got to be in tune with your post It's no point it obaying all the rules and have 10 lines if your avarge post is only 6 lines.

In my personaly opinion it dosn't look tacky. even if it is long. It looks structers and meanful

lol thats the first of me knowing the two line rule had changed my senilitys setting in again!

Maybe if you had a sticky called "Check your sig" done in some structured way , users could quickly find out if their sigs were ok? and then go change them, I dont know whether this would work well in practice but I see what you are saying about it being a pain for database admins or whatever to go altering thousands of sigs. Just an idea

Actually heres a suggested format in the sticky

UserX says : Is My Sig ok?
admin says : UserX yes

UserY says: Is My Sig ok?
admin says: UserY no

UserZ says: Is My Sig ok?
admin says: UserZ yes

and everyone in the sticky only posts in a simple format and nothing else. That way it keeps the threaqd solely for that and lets admins see easily who they have spoke to abput their sig. Also maybe have in the first post of the sticky what the requirements are so no discussion other than than the formatted responses are dealt with. (that can be done in another place as this is an idea with the aim of helping you folks manage getting thousands of sigs sorted)

saying what ever you want, also dont forget that you have a whole line to use up so doing just small sentances is a waste

by making some of your lines
Smaller
ofcourse you dont want to make it tiny
but it does help to say more

As for colours stick to a max of 3
although some well done exceptions
are allowed. Like very well done
fading from one colour to the next for instance

will take up more room
and look annoying
