I am listening to the "Q3 2008 Electronic Arts Earnings Conference Call", and they just said that they are going to release spore before the holidays.

O_O you mean before the spring break, before christmas, or before july 4? O___o for the love of god! i hope it means spring break or july 4th!

I am going to guess that they mean before Christmas. That is typically what people think of as "the holidays", at least in the U.S.A. I got lucky, I read the time for the webcast wrong, and thought it was at 5:00 pacific, but it was 5:00 eastern. I realized my mistake, and got there JUST in time to hear that. I am sooo happy now.

Before the holidays? I think that this could mean no more delays! Wish they could have provided more precise dates but im happy. What do you think?

One "Holidays" that keep popping into my head is the "Summer Holidays" It means it might be released just in time for the summer holidays. Too bad he did not say which holidays(the Late-Fall/Winter Holidays or the Summer Holidays).
The Summer "Holidays" is a major break in the USA. It lasts for 2-3 months.
Even not including all of the school people, The summer "holidays" is still major to people.
A lot of citys have Major revenue durring the "summer holidays".......
I will travel to hawaii durring my summer "Holidays".......
Oh well. i better plan for the Late-Fall/Winter Holidays then the Summer Holidays.......

then their holding it for Nov/Dec to get Christmas.

Not necessarily. New franchises tend to do better during the summer when gamers are more willing to take a chance.

I see what EA is doing here.

They're just saying "before the holidays" so if they DO have to push its release to summer or fall, then they already covered their asses.

Im thinking it will be out before Black Friday.
That may be the smartest move EA Games once i thought about it. i mean they release it on Black Friday.
But im thinking July-Aug.
If its not out before Oct, then sometime in Nov it may be released.

Ya but think of all the younger kids that don't have jobs. Christmas would be the perfect time for them to get it. Also stores are more crowded during the holidays therefore more consumers that would see the product. I mean face it there are still some people that don't know about spore.

What he means is that people who buy games around christmas time usually stay with a tried and true franchise, think of it: What self-respecting parent would buy little Suzy/Timmy some game that they haven't heard them bitch about (Parents call it something other then bitching, I think they call it "whining.") While right next to this weirdly named/boxed game (I mean, c'mon, its called Spore with a Galaxy on it!?!) is the tried and true 200th expansion for The Sims. Which would they buy?

Now, lets look at spring: You can finally see the first buds of flowers, baby animals are practically popping out right and left, you get the picture. Now imagine that same little Timmy/Suzy, they still have some Christmas money left and they are done with the veritable orgasm that was Fall 2007 gaming, and they are wondering what the hell they are going to play. Its confirmed that late Winter (Jan.-Feb.) and Spring have more new style game sales then any other season.

Well, hope this cleared it up, and sorry to people reading who didn't know where babies came from.
