I was tired of looking at the old thread name on the main community menu, so i made this one. I guess i should also post somthing to make this thread authentic.

I have reasons to believe that the release of spore will not be in the spring. I would have to guess a release in the summer if not mor than likly in the fall of 2008. Why? because they havent said a thing since the first time they mentioned next spring, and when they mentioned spring they didnt exactly say thats when it was coming out, they just said that was the earliest possibility because of the fiscal year. Also, the "roughly six months" quote is in no way a direct quote and wasnt even the same context as we thought. Besides, the word "roughly" is right next to "septemberish" in the Wrightionary. and doesnt really mean anything in terms of when this game is coming out.

Am I saying there is no hope of ever seeing this game? No. Im just saying that this game has only just begun its final stages. Its just that we have learned so much about this game alot sooner than we should have...

I disagree.
It is already confirmed, that the latest selay was "only for buisness purposes". This means, that the game is already finished, and EA will now choose a date that will be the best for Spore to be released. This means, they have a reason why spring is a good choice.

And I can't see any problem with "roughly", of course he won't say "Yeah, it will be released exactly at six months from now", because there is no announced official release date. It might be five, or seven months. He was wrong about the Setemberish release date, but it has nothing to do with the unsure term, probably he would also talk like this if secretly he would have an exact release date.

Id have to say that it might have been for buisness purposes when it was said, but there nothing saying that they are going to have it done before the fiscal year starts. When we hear "the game is finished." I think they are just saying its a full game, but im sure it has plenty of bugs and lots of testing to go through untill its approved and considered accessable to the target audience. Will Wright has always said he wants to make it appealing to more than just gamers and that takes alot of tweeking.

If the fiscal year was the only reason it was delayed, i would almost promise you there would be a full blown offical release date. which may not have been the day the fiscal year started.

but then again... does anyone know about businesses and the like? I just had a hunch that maybe they cant give out much more information untill the start of the next fiscal year... i dunno. Its kinda like how a presidential cannidate cannot advertise him or herself untill the election is a few months off. In that case, theres no way that Spore would come out right after the new fiscal year starts. They would have to wait while they advertised it more tho the general public and not just at gamming conventions, and then they could release it. Someone know if this is right or wrong? has there been an official release date that was announced before the fiscal year the game was released?

I would have to say at this point Im honestly unsure of when its going to come out. I have lost my optimism . In saying this all I believe is that it could be released any time from 3 months down the line to a bit over 1 year down the line. As mentioned in a previous post, maybe ive mis-interpretted the info but it seems to me like they still have a shed load to do. At this point I definatly wouldnt be surprised if spore was a long while of, so much so - I nearly cancelled my pre order 2 days ago. The idea was If I do that I can just forget the game and buy it a few weeks after its out but just before I did it I changed my mind. I truely realise they must do spore right and not cock it up but they really should have not said so many release dates, years ago they should have just said we have no idea, thats what many gaming companies do and its a better formulae for success than every 2 months having another release date scandal. More than the waiting its all the mis information thats most annoying , when they should have just said loook F OFF get off our case it will be done when its done and no we dont have any idea when its due out, setting stupid deadlines is a recipe for disaster. (Obviously this didnt happen hehe)

I bet EA is rushing it.....
I had a dream everyone at Xspore sent a check to Will Wright and he broke off of EA having enough money to complete Spore the way he wanted it...
But dreams will be dreams.
EA rushed C&C Tiberium Wars, so they're probably going to rush Spore, too..

Just to say none of us can state that its not going to be rushed, because if the game comes out missing parts and like shit then people will innevitably say its been rushed out the door. Rushed in the context its out the door when devs should have been spending time fixing bugs. Theres nothing at this time which tells us one way or the other. I am not assuming spore will be good until I play it. Take into consideration some potentially key features have been cut and watered down + another potential year or so of unforseen problems that could waqrrant other changes well who knows what could happen?

Just to be 100% clear the fact that the games been in development years will be immaterial if it comes out bad. People will say why did they release it in this state?
