I completely agree. of people knew more about it, they wouldn't be sending death threats to the guy in charge of the project.

this is what people hear:

this project imposes a ridiculously small chance of destroying the world.

10% to the negative 25th is not enough to get all riled up about! and for those of us versed in the law of attraction and quantum physics (like myself) know that there is no way anything bad will happen.

Black Holes are not the problem.
Forgot where i read this, but the LHC may produce an explosion (if something goes wrong) that can reach 200 miles in radius (yeah, even into the crust). If that happens, though, we are much more boned than we would be if a Black Hole was created. (Less mass on the planet, shifting orbits, collision, sky blocked out, firey hot debris, etc, etc)

A little better than the entire universe getting sucked into another dimension or something=D

Haven't they already stated that, even in the 1/1,000,000 chance that a black hole is created, it will be the size of an atom and evaporate in a billionth of a second or something similar to that?

They already have created a black hole like that.
And IF something goes wrong, IF, they have a panic button.

A one in several million chance it will crumple the earth into a tiny little ball...
But it's still a better chance than winning the lottery... =o

I think the scientists know what they're doing, we are just people who post on a forum every day...
if anyone opposes, go right ahead, but for now i stand by my word.

The 5 Scientific Experiments Most Likely to End the World | Cracked.com

I'm not really concerned about is, but I think scientist just wanna be able to say they outdid God....

And do they really need to do all of this. I thought is was common knowledge the the answer to everything is 42?

I truly don't believe anything will happen as I'm not panicking for my life....but there's a thought in the back of my head saying though extremely unlikely there's always a chance...

But this isn't the first case like this: when scientists split the atom they were worried what would be created then.

Also, they had a whole physics team assigned to check whether the chance of a black hole thingy (it's not a black hole, something a bit worse) being created and they all came to the conclusion it won't

Haha I loved that article. 3 of the 5 experiments were linked to the LHC.

Also, if the world does end on Wed I really hope there's an afterlife so I can spend the rest of eternity complaining to the scientists that ruined everything for us.

If it ends the Earth, good. It'll stop Humans from setting their hands on other worlds, draining them of useful materials, and then overpopulating them.

I'm honestly not afraid of dying in that way, because everyone else is going with me.

A. its not going to end the world

B. they are looking for this partical (i forget what its called)...if it does exist it will confirm a theory about why things have mass (there is this invisible forcefield in the universe that things traveling through it are effected (all things minus light))

What if it warps our planet into another universe or something. Maybe we will go through a black hole, but instead of destroying us, it transports us.
