Fallout 3 VS Fable 2

These two monster RPGs are coming out at roughly the same time. Which are you more excited about? Which do you think is more likely to be a GotY contender?

...They are COMPLETELY different games. Fable is more run-and-gun type play, with more social enjoyment. Fallout 3 is going for serious roleplay, with high focus on abilities and levels.

These two can not be compared. They're hardly in the same genre. I'd class Fable 2 as Action rather than RPG, since it seems to be more like that in every sense.

I mean. Srsly.

He never said anything about comparing the two games, he was just asking which game everyone was more excited about. Sheesh.

I'll contribute.

I'm more excited about Fallout 3. I've played (a little) of Fallout 1 and 2, but I can never play it for very long before my computer crashes for mysterious reasons. I've played Oblivion and Morrowind, and they were amazing.. so a "futuristic" Oblivion? Count me in.

I'm also excited about Fable 2, especially if all the things Peter Molyneux promised are implemented. I was disappointed with the first Fable, but it was still plenty fun.

I'll get both.

Both will be incredible games, but Fallout 3 will reign supreme. You all just wait and see.

Don't quite understand how Fallout 3 is going to be the more "serious" RPG, unless by serious you mean "sticking to tried-and-true RPG gameplay conventions". Fable 2 seems like it'll provide just as many possibilities for genuine roleplaying, perhaps even more when you take into account all the added social and "everyday life" elements they're promising.

Personally I'm a little more excited about Fable 2, just because it seems like it's actually trying something new with the RPG genre. Not that Fallout 3 will be bad. I'm sure the story will be amazing like usual, and I always liked the sense of humor of the series. At the same time though, I don't see the game as offering anything particularly new or revolutionary. Sure, it has good graphics/physics/etc, but strip that all away and you've got some pretty standard RPG mechanics.

In my opinion, Fable 2 is just shooting a little higher than Fallout 3. Of course, this could work against it too, if we see a repeat of what happened with Fable 1. =)

Yeah, given Bethesda's track record there is no doubt in my mind that Fallout 3 will be extremely polished. Basically I think it comes down to: "do you want a polished game, or a game that tries something new?" Personally, I've played Bethesda/Fallout games before, so I'm more interested in checking out what crazy new gamble Lionhead is preparing for us.

I can't wait to see the mods for Fallout 3. I'm almost afraid. For that reason, it would be much wiser and much more value for money to get Fallout. On the other hand, Lionhead games have so much charm...

EDIT: I think you have that last paragraph back-to-front storage...

I've not heard anything about Fable 2 beside the fact that there is going to be a sequel to Fable, but I'm a great fan of Fable and spent many days finding a copy of Lost Chapters a couple months back. It's kind of rare in the area and well, I really wanted to play the game again.

I'm guessing Fable 2 will be for the 360, which unfortunately I don't own at the moment, but let me tell you it's a game I will definitely play at some time in the future.

Fallout 3 has to be good

I have to say like Fallout 3 will be better than Fable 2, I mean you have quite a large amount of people who are in love with the old Fallout 1 & 2 and its a good thing its all 3D because the videos of the old one by Black Isle was actually canny crap, but I've never been a big fan of Fable so Go Fallout 3, also in Fallout 2 does anyone know where the easter egg is in New Reno cause ive looked all over and I cant find it.

Fallout no fable, no fallout, no oh F it they both looks so awesome, stuff it I've pre ordered both collectors editions, they may both turn out to be completely awesome anyway, oh and there's L4D as well. Hmm now I just need to get money to buy them all so far my strategy is to try and bribe the store assistant with super toffee ice cream no one can refuse super toffee ice cream, with chocolate sauce

DO IT NOW.

Srsly, you haven't played an RPG unless you've played Fallout 1/2.

Now, the pick....I'm buying them both, but I'd say I'm more excited for Fallout 3.

post apocalyptic scenarios are a major turn on for me, I love the style. The grey atmosphere all the time... and they're bringing back the gameplay style from the first two, which surprised the hell out of me! Usually I'm not too big a fan of turn based rpgs but I really liked the way Fallout's was programmed. So excited for fallout 3!

Rather than "Fable 2 Vs. Fallout3" it should be "Fable 2 or Fallout 3." Something not implicative of which one is better, just more of what do you prefer, which is pretty much what this thread is about.

As for me, Fable 2. Lionhead hopefully won't fail this time, I hope...

I dunno, so far everything I've seen about the games has led me to believe that Fable 2 will be better. Not that Fallout 3 will be bad, but it just doesn't seem as groundbreaking as Fable 2 will be.

So yeah, I guess I was kind of implying the question "which do you think will be better?".
