So in the same topic we went from Tech Trees to... wait, what are we talking about now?

Technology advancement in games is good. If done right, it will be amazing in Spore. What I hope for is not a set technology tree, otherwise that would override the point of designing things, but an open developmental scheme, where what you can build depends not on a set tree, but the level of development scientifically and mentally of your civilisation, the greater this is, the more advanced technology you can utilise.
