Carnivore vs. Herbivore

Carnivore vs. Herbivore

Obviously carnivores can eat meat and from what i have seen in gameplay vids it looks like you get points for eating them does that meen herbivores get points for eating plants and leaves?

Also if you wouldnt mind answering in your opinion what is more practical in spore, carnivore or herbivore.

1st post :)

I would assume that being a herbivore would mean eating vegetation (and therefore their source of income/method of advance). Regardless, carnivores and herbivores will both be practical ways to advance your creature. Meat eating creatures will most likely be war-mongering; herbivores will most likely be diplomatic. Basically, make you want. The game isn't based on being practical, but on fun.

Welcome to xSpore. :)

There's probably an option for a mouth that is capable of eating both meat and vegetation.

Maybe reduced amounts of DNA points gained from eating in compensation for more options?

Well to sum all these types of threads up completely, carnivores win all the way. Simply because they can EAT herbivores. cant beat that

unless that is your horrible gliding, stealthy, speedy monster is made out of leaves -_-

EDIT: oh, and i just noticed. Warm Welcome to xSpore m8, enjoy your stay

. . . You dont have to eat something to kill it.
The biggest, baddest carnivores you can think of would be just as deadly if you gave it a herbivore's mouth (and horns of some kind to make up for the bite lost if theres any bite lost).

there are more herbivoures than carnivours and you would have to be pretty despert to take on a moose or an elaphant or a hippootimus etc.

EDIT: ince a carnivour is wounded there screwed they need to be at peak performance to take town any thing bigger than a rabbit depending on what your are. i suppose a blue whale wouldn't have ot be at peak performance to eat krill...

Most likely people think that Carnivores always have the edge, this is not the truth. Herbivores may seem week, and defenseless, but if you take a closer look you will find you are dead wrong. Carnivores have long sharp teeth for tearing of flesh, also usually 4 legs for running power to catch there prey(with some carnivores this is not the case). Herbivores are usually bigger, due to the fact that they get more energy from eating plants, so they would need a type of defense. Almost all herbivores have defense of some sort, poison, horns, armor, or fast and agile abilities. This evens it out, so i dont think that either or are really better.

wait a second...

In this picture i found on x spore in the image section it has 5 circley things indicating
the creatures Power, Speed, Stealth, Herbivore, Carnivore, Sence ??, and Social. This
particlular creature in the link below shows it has 2/5 in Herbivore and 2/5 in Carnivore
but only one mouth. By the looks of it this means were able to get omnivore mouths!
Although this pic was taken in the 2005 vid i think meaning Will could have taken that
option out like he did with sea creature phase : (
Oh and what is Sence??

well i think that they are equal, if there were more meat eaters than plant eaters than it would be crazy. but just to add to this heated thread, lol,go to youtube and search battle at kruger. its a crazy battle between herbavore and carnavore.

My first game, I'll likely be a carnivore, I really don't want to spend 3 hours running around munching leaves. After that, however, who knows? They both seem to have their advantages, so I'll try 'em both out.

EDIT: There are omnivore mouths, that was confirmed a long time ago. They've been in pretty much all the spore videos. >_<

OMG GAIZ WTF IS YOUR STEREOTYPING PROBLEMS?!!

herbivores are going to be heavy on military, they are not the stupid 'let's be friends and eat these little leaves' characters from your childhood cartoons! if they get technology, they WILL use it to gain all the fieldland or forestland that they can. that means territory wars. lots of them.

also, yes, carnivores eat herbivores, but you have to consider that herbivores don't try to breed weak, defenseless, slow descendants. that is why predators usually don't take on herbivores their own size, if they did, they'd be gored. fox against rabbit: fox wins. fox against goat: goat wins.
