That is what I did when naming my pet bearded dragon. I named him legarto which I belive is lizard in spanish or another language. I know it means lizard in some language. I think legarto is also the name of a crater on mars. So that may make a good name for a planet. Or even a creature if it is going to be some lizard reptile like thing.

My species is the Gria'Nik. They look like mice when they are born, but soon change into stag-like creatures. They stand on their hind legs, and their front legs have hands instead of hooves.

Gria'Nik means "The righteous ones", and they believe that every other type of life is an Abomination which must be eliminated.

The Gria'Nik language is the Gria'Pat'Ar, which means "The words of the righteous ones".

They love crystal more then anything else and the technology looks like protos technology.

The Azien religion is CrystalKami (Kami=God) there`s god`s name is Raikage and they follow the way of Raikage path (Lightning Shadow on japan).

I think we should all think of one creature to design and when we get the game we should all make one. Then, maybe the Galaxy will be over-run by these..Sporians. Of course once we advance to the Space Phase we can make our own creatures, or start a new game and go from there. But it would be funny to have hundreds of similar creatures roaming around and all come from the same place haha.

I for one want to make a 4 legged creature with 2 arms that have one hand on each arm and one blade-like claw aswell. The legs would be on an oval shaped body that kind of rises on one side where it turns into a neck where the arms and head will be. Not sure what to call it, or what exactly it would look like, but that's the basics.

After that, once I hit the Space Phase i'll make creatures based off games, like the Zerg, Protoss, Guildwars, Doom, Half-life etc. I'm going to pre-order this game sometime in the next couple of days so I gauruntee I get it when it comes out!

The Sskiss will be a non-humanoid race of Therapod dinosaurs (probably an Allosaur or one of the Dromaeosaurs). I will call them the Sskiss because it is a race I created starting back in 79' and have refined them over the years. I currently play them in a sci-fi Roleplaying forum and have been doing so for quite some time.

I have a few names cooking up there, mostly using other languages combining words like a lot of people.

Zeitkinder for one, it's a combination of the German words for "time" and "children". I think I'd use it for either my first species -- since they would have been around before any others and it would make sense of the name -- or a more sophisticated peaceful species, as the name reminds me of the Time Lords from Doctor Who. The Doctor himself is fairly peaceful and tries to protect people. Oh, and if anyone is thinking it, yes I know The Doctor's species wasn't Time Lord, he's a Gallifreyan. Time Lord is just sort of an "occupation". Though some people would argue that, I distinctly remember that not all Gallifreyans were Time Lord/Ladies.
Sorry for the tangent. I can't seem to make my brain stop doing it, and I can never bring myself to delete my tangents. OCD and all I guess.

I also have many designs cooking up in my head, though most of them are for unintelligent creatures I plan to create to inhabit my planets. I think when I get around to actually playing through the first time I'll try not to plan too far ahead, though I know any subsequent playthroughs I'll end up planning,

Im going to name them Puxum.

My brother said it once, because he had a rather funny cross word riddle (?) in front of him, where you had to fill the gap with a fantasy word with 5 Letters. He wrote Puxum and the first thing which came to my mind was : A damn good name for my Spore race. Although i dont have a idea for the design.

The first thing that came to mind when I read "Puxum" was something small and mushrooms. Maybe a small, quick creature with something resembling a mushroom on it's back?
Anyway, I really like the name, think of a good design to go with it so I'll enjoy seeing Puxum... Puxumites... Puxii... Puxums... whatever-the-plural-you'd-decide-on-for-that's running around on some random planet in my galaxy, if they ever got downloaded by the game that is.

my creature is a sqiud bird thing. squid body bird beak 6 eyes two armscythes andostrich legs.

Creep - Because they will be little tiny octopus/insect things.
