Holy.. holy crap, brood! That's amazing! I'm surprised you're not demanding some sort of
pay for this! And emily, welcome! I really like your creature, it's very creative. Also both cute and dangerous! I like! And do you two think I should post more ideas I get here, even if I don't have drawings to go with them? |

Thanks! Please post any other stuff you got. I love drawing from my imagination, but there's something oddly satisfying in drawing something for someone else. Especially when they like it : )
This whole community is pretty damn creative, even if the drawings are simple. With the spore creature creator every single person on her should be able to come up with pixar quality aliens! I can't wait!!!!

Male Squidkey ![]() This is a Squidkey and is refferred to by local tribes as Mudusa's Ape. The male has 11 large tentacles with claws at each end Primarily used for tree climbing and combat The female has around 8. The squidkey can walk but is much more agile in the trees. If the situiation calls for it the Squidkey can swim due to its seafaring ancestry but is not quite as used to water as a current squid. It is ominverous but peacefull and will not kill for food but rather for defense, food or territory. When the squidkey becomes intelligent it uses its 6 shorter center tentacles much like we usae our hands, such as holding tools or operating machineryThe female has around 10 of these. Its monkey ancestry also gives him a high learning rate and it is known to be playfully mischevious. Squid key babies need to be in water while they grow into a size in which their muscels are strong enough to grip tree branches. This also helps them learn to swim if they ever need to to escape or chase an offender of their territory. Baby squidkeys live in water baskets bade from large bannana tree like leaves created by their parents and start out with only their center 6 tentacle and grow the larger ones as they grow.Once the baby squid can live out in open air the female forms her 10 short tentacles into a sort of basket and carries him everywhere teaching him how to climb and forage. after this training is complete the male teaches the youngster how to defend himself. However unlike most specieas squidkey children stay with their family. Most squidkey family groups count up to around 30. They help eachother defend their land and forage for food together. whaile the group will encounter other family group occasionally the events are usually not violent and usually provide the optimum time for breeding if it is breeding season. Breeding season is in the and of winter to make it easy to keep the babies water basket full with water since spring is full of rain and the babies can train in the summer. The tipical squidkey lives aroud 60 years a little less than a human. The squidkeys gain the ability of camoflauge around the age of 10 which is when they start their mandatory teritory guarding shifts for the family. The camoflauge only works when the animal is completelt still but if it does it is completely invisible. The most common reason Squidkeys attack other creatures is they either tresspass or trip over them when they are camo'ed on the ground. Squidkey wars are uncommon but when they do happen the whole family participate with only around a mixed gender group of around 4 protecting the young. Lives in Amazon like forests. This will be my first creature when spore comes out so look out for it on your planet

Help out the newbie
Hey, this is my first time doing this, but this is my creature. I made it in a simple paint program and it looks a little cartoony. The colors are up to debate and there is no name yet. Any ideas would be appreciated.... unless they suck ....

This is an Emory male before sentience. The Emory live for around 130-140 years without medicinal applications. Notice the large outcropping on his head, this is used as a weapon of self-defense and for offensive purposes as well. The Emory are around 7 feet in height and 9 feet in diameter. They have 4 legs and 2 frontol arms with tri-fingered claws on each grasper. The Emory evolve to become a relatively peaceful race. In this picture the male is defending his territory from a potential predator while the female and newborn head for the shelter of the mountains.

Sentience
I think I've developed my idea for my sentient creature, let me know what you guys think! (Two notes, you don't have to draw this, Brood, if you don't want to. That one you already did of my Morbicani was more than enough!
Also, this creature takes some inspiration from the Pokemon Aipom, in the fact that it's like a monkey and has a third hand on it's tail. Other than that, hope you enjoy!)Scientific name: Trigeminus (tergeminus) -a -um [threefold , triple] Attrecto [to touch , handle, lay hands on] Common name: Harlequin leaper, Laughingstock (most common term) Size: About five feet tall when fully erect. Appearance: If nothing else, the laughingstock is an intensely colorful animal. The body is covered in dense, extremely short hair, excluding the insides of the ears, all of the hands except the backs, and the face. The majority of this hair is pitch black, with the exception of a large, oval shaped patch on the stomach, the shoulder, the elbows, knees, and the backs of the ears, all of which are a glaringly bright red. Also, each laughingstock has a red diamond-shaped mark in the exact center of the back, inside of which is a black diamond the same primary color as most of the fur, and contained within that is a final red diamond. The skin, where visible, is a creamy white, and the two eyes, placed in the usual area, are usually seen as full of mischief, and have patches of white diamonds over them. The ears are triangular and cat-like, situated rather high on the head, with odd, wispy tendrils of black hair that extend downward to the shoulders. The legs are rather short like most monkey's, yet nimble, with typical grasping feet at the ends. However, the laughingstock's most defining characteristic, perhaps even more so than it's garish coloration is the fact that it posesses two arms, and three hands. The arms are long, dangling, and slender, and the hands at the ends of them are barely strong enough to support it's own weight through it's natural habitat; the treetops, but it makes up for this with the larger, much more powerful hand at the end of a tail that is normally held arched over the head when at rest. The tail and it's hand is so powerful that it can easily support the weight of the laughingstock and indeed much more, however, it is not nearly as dexterous as the smaller hands on the arms and is harder to use for delicate work. Alternating between the two different types of hands is key for a baby laughingstock to master. Behavior: As clownish as their appearance, laughingstocks are a well-known nuisance on Fresard, as they take great delight in tossing nearby objects at passers-by or playing any other number of pranks, such as mimicing the calls of animals that prey on whatever they are currently jesting (A clear sign of their intelligence). However, while annoying, they are in no way dangerous, and they will even in fact toss down food to animals they believe they've injured. The primary diet consists of nuts and fruit, although certain leaves and plants will also be consumed. Harlequin leapers detest the taste of flesh to an extreme, even going so far to avoiding eating food as far away as ten feet from a corpse, even if it has never been touched by it. There is a theory that their special tail may have evolved not only to provide greater support in the trees, but to help crush tougher nuts. This includes the fruit of the local Tressilia Tree, which bears fruit with a diameter of two feet, and a shell thickness of several inches. A single flex of the 'boss hand' can easily shatter the casing to get at the sweet pulp inside. The laughingstock is preyed upon by some aerial and treetop-dwelling carnivores of Fresard, but it uses it's quick mind and even quicker evasive skills to beat an easy retreat through the treetops, rather than fight. However, when cornered, it can prove to be an able fighter. (More below) Sentience: Recent discoveries point to the assumption that the laughingstock is on the verge of becoming a self-aware species. They already know the concepts of sharing, remorse, appology, and basic tool-making, and research shows that their squeaking vocal sounds carry specific meanings; the development of a new language. Also, the brain is highly advanced for a herbivore species, it is thought that the brain had developed so well in order to form planning to avoid the attacks of predators. With these clues, it is assumed that the species is well on it's way to becoming sentient. Notes: 1. The laughingstock is extremely quick both on the ground and in trees, but is more suited to swinging from branch to branch. It can reach 10 mph on the forest floor with it's monkey-like gait, but within the trees it can accelerate to an astonishing 56 mph. 2. When no other option of escape is avaliable, the harlequin leaper employs it's unique tail to good use. Arching it over it's shoulder, it firmly grasps the predator's head in the 'boss hand' (firmly yet carefully, as they never inflict lasting damage) and almost easily lift the offender off the ground, up to and including animals three times the weight of the laughingstock itself. Once helpless, a flurry of rapid punches, scratches and slaps is delivered to the target with the two weaker hands, with the hope that the hungry carnivore will be beaten up so severely that it will become stunned for a few minutes, enough for the harlequin to drop it, then flee. 3. A few experienced travelers to Fresard know of a little ploy to play against laughingstocks when a stick or some similar item is thrown at them. Taking advantage of the animal's admirable conscience, one will simply fall down and close their eyes as soon as the stick is thrown, pretending to be hurt, even when the item comes nowhere near them. Soon after, the concerned laughingstock will toss down food as an appology, and then the hungry traveler can jump up, fresh as a daisy, and take the free fruit and be on his way, the enraged shrieks of the tricked animal following him. (To trick the trickster, as it were) Man, that was long, too. Hope none of you mind.. and I'm sorry if this one was a little worse, I typed it very late at night. Hope you enjoy, regardless! ![]() |

I'm actually pretty impressed with your species. I like how they are delicately aware of ethics and such. Maybe my species could be friends with yours =-D. Mine aren't as friendly as yours are though, but we could probably make it work lol.

Ok, here is the creature submitted by Emily T. I didn't have a whole lot of time to spend on it, but I think it's what she was aiming for. (I'm assuming Emily T is a girl)
