USD is the second biggest bum to ever hit this site. anyway. This is called a Mitmit. (Lolcow, Originally designed by Sporeisjoe using the creature editor, i've changed over 50% of it, therefore I gain legal rights on posting this ;- .I wanted to post it cause I thought it looked pretty. Imagine a group of about 10-30 of these scampering around, about the size of ...of a uh...small cat, maybe? shoebox should do it. Herbivores. Inquisitive and damn cute. ![]()

My first post, woot!
Balaena Grandis - 8~13 ft tall ~400 lbs My first post is a peacefull, mountain dwelling whale. They are solitary creatures and yada yada yada - ![]() Infinitus Balatus - 2 ft tall ~ 50 lbs (200 lbs with arms) My other one is a very angry race, constantly conquering stuff. Partially robotic. ![]() Aetas Ursus Porcus - 8 ft tall 250lbs A "wild" species. not eyt intelligent. Simmilar social patters to bears, but less agressive. ![]() Can't wait for spore Andrew Quintiliani Last edited by broodovermind : 01-06-2008 at 12:32 AM. Reason: didn't post pictures correctly |

Thanks man. Your stuff is really nice too! Very creative. I noticed you do a lot of sea creatures and stuff based off of fossil animals. I'm working on a sea creature design myself that is loosely based on a couple of different bony fish.
Keep practicing!

Flora monster
I thought i would make a creature that was plant based. I'm gonna do several of these for an individual project, so here's one that is moss/algea based. Now that I think about it he looks ALOT like a void walker..... damn.

Idea
Firstly, to Powerferret, if you're still checking out this thread, NICE WORK! Seriously,
your text-book-like representation of Phalanx and it's behavior patterns and biology.. simply breathtaking. Anyway, I myself have NO artistic talent.. but I got a rather nice idea for a creature, and would like to share a little about it here, see what you guys think. I appologise in advanceif descriptions alone aren't supposed to go here, but I saw nowhere else, so.. (P.S. If anyone feels the urge to draw my creature after reading about it, feel free! I couldn't be more honored!) So, finally, here's my idea.. Scientific Name: morbidus [sickly , diseased, unwholesome] caninus [of a dog , canine] Common Name: Morbicani Size: Roughly akin to a wolf, slightly larger. General Information and Behavior: Due to the morbicani's extremely weak stomach acid, and nearly perfect immune system, several adaptations have occured. It is a pack hunter, and lives in family groups of 10-15, though there is no clear 'leader'. Prey is commonly many times larger than a single morbicani itself, and so teamwork is used to bring them down, communication established through a series of clickings caused by the teeth chattering together. However, at this point, the prey is not simply eaten. It is instead dragged by all of the hunters to a flat, hard, sunny spot that is always overflowing with other corpses, and is left to rot in the sun. Morbicani cannot digest nearly anything by themselves, and so they wait until a kill has been broken down to quite an extent by bacteria and the sun's rays, and then rip off hunks and swallow it, where the bacteria present on the rotting meat continues to break down the food for it. When not hunting, a group of morbicani are usually found resting on or in their mountain of corpses, commonly known as a 'cache' or in some circles, as an 'oven', waiting for everything to decompose. They are highly protective of these caches, although few other beasts dare steal from them. Not only are their claws and teeth formitable weapons, the stench is so terrible nothing except insects drawn to the carnage can stand it. (Morbicani themselves have no sense of smell or taste.) Appearance: Due to their habit of sleeping and protecting their cache of corpses, morbicani themselves have evolved to look much like a corpse. The skin is a mottled purple-red with touches of blue, giving the appearance of exposed muscle and tissue, and they always appear terribly mal-norished and on the verge of death even when perfectly healthy; the muscles are powerful, yet extremely lean, the skin clings to the ribcage, accenting every bone, and the flesh of the belly nearly touches the spine between the ribs and rear legs. The basic body shape is canine in appearance, with some small differences. The front paws look like slender, human-like hands, with sharp, inch-long claws (used to dig into the hide of a prey that's been leaped upon) And although it runs and walks on all fours, it is capable of shambling and even sprinting on hind legs for a few minutes. To give a greater appearance of something rotting, it has no outer ear, although a hole is still present, and it's hearing is quite astute. The eyes and snout are like a canine's, although both upper and lower canine teeth can reach up to four inches in length, to form a sort of 'pliars'. (When attacking prey, the favored method is to reach the victim's neck, bite in such a way that the enlarged fangs slip under the spine, then suddenly and ferociously tear upward, removing a section from the body.) Breeding Habits: Breeding begins in the hottest month of the year, when the corpses are rotting the quickest. Any avaliable male will mate with any avaliable female, they do not couple for life, and there is no fighting over mates. The female lays her eggs two weeks later; they have the appearance of white rice, only a foot long, and seven inches wide. However, as morbicani have little to no fat or body mass to cover their eggs with to heat them, the female lays her brood in the abdominal cavity of a rapidly decomposing body, where the gases given off by the bacteria will give them the heat they need. After three months, the brood of eggs (usually up to four at a time) will hatch, and begin eating. Notes 1. Along with the fact that they have little meat to offer, and are fairly high on the food chain, morbicani are rarely preyed upon, as since they're always rolling in rot and filth, their skin is covered with unspeakable amounts of disease. A creature would have to possess an immune system as advanced as a morbicani itself to not become dangerously ill from consuming one. (Morbicani themselves will not eat members of their own species. When one dies, it is interestingly pushed just beyond the reaches of the cache.) 2. Morbicani rarely travel far from their corpses, as since most of their kills are quite large, it takes alot of work dragging them back to the cache. Instead, they prefer to wait for unwise creatures to walk relatively closeby. (A good rule of thumb when exploring on Fresard is that if you smell anything rotting, walk the opposite way.) 3. The largest cache on record was built by a family of over 70 morbicani, and covered nearly one square mile. Whew, that was long. Hope it didn't take up too much space.. and I hope you enjoy it! ![]() |

wow!
Really nice man, ill get to work on that immediatly. Really descriptive and pretty dang creative. I love gruesome creatures like this. The only thing that could make them better is if their only predator was a carebear-ish race. heheheh

Large enough to carry off elephants with ease. ![]() I'm also messing with an insectoid/humanoid guy. heres a possible head: ![]() If it lets us mess with the alpha or oppacity, im totaly making a ghost planet. ![]() a fish with a big lung thingy ![]()

And here is Rundogrun1189's Morbidus Caninus. If anything isn't quite right, please tell me. It's still pretty rough, so i can easily make changes. If there is no reply i'll just start coloring it tomarrow. Of course, i can still make changes at any point, it's just easier here at the begging.

Oh wow, thank you very much for your kind words, Brood! And jeez, your art is pretty
fantastic as well, I'm really excited that you drew my creature. o_o And you got it almost perfect! xD Only thing that would be different would be the snout, it's a tad longer, pretty much likea wolf's snout. But, if you've already started coloring, it's fine as is! I can't get over it, fantastic job, and thank you very much! ![]() |
