![]() This is a langeous. Langeous are solitary desert herbivores about the size of a large dog. Though the land they inhabit is dry and has little plant life, it is actually a cold desert, and temperatures rarely rise above 15°C, even in the middle of summer. Built to thrive in extreme cold, langeous can hold large amounts of water in their stomachs, and store fat in their tails for times when food is especially scarce.

This is something I recently made and scanned.
![]() Cerrics are relatively small, peaceable creatures that live high on mountain slopes. They are rather shy, and weigh around 10-20 pounds. Cherrics have long claws that are good for gripping vegetation, and are excellent for digging. They excavate shallow burrows in the mountain slopes, which they sleep and raise young in. When threatened, the orb on the tail of a cherric glows brightly, a defence mechanism that serves to confuse a predator, and to attract it’s attention away from the cherric’s head. Though they make their homes in a warm area, in the higher altitudes of the mountains it stays cool most of the time, and cherrics are well equipped to deal with cool temperatures, supporting a thick coat of soft fur. They retreat to their burrows to cool off if the weather becomes too warm.

One of my first thoughts about Spore was wishing/hoping you could design parasites. I am fascinated by the idea of a living environment inside which other organisms live... Or the life of an individual cell amid others of its kind, all doing its specific purpose as it works with others to keep itself alive. I will enjoy the cellular manipulation level a lot for this reason. Terrific illustration, by the way.

Another creature I've created...
This one is an unpleasant cave dweller called the 'Splichee'
These creatures feed on a specific prey I'll likely display an illustration of at some point, and store the resulting nutrients in their enormous abdomens.

Here's some sketches of various body parts of another creature I'm working on illustrations of, called an Ellui tulaq.
I got several different kinds of tulaq, and they'll be among the creatures I'll try and duplicate in my Spore world.

And a third...
I call this one a 'streetsweeper'
This is the juvenile, nymph version of this creature, which is a scavenger that feeds on anything organic. I am fond of liquivores, and this is another one of my creatures that lacks jaws of any sort, using its long snout to squirt digestive liquids over its meal, be it living or dead matter, dissolving it so it can be lapped up by the extremely long tongue.

. I hope there are a lot of options for the microscopic level, because you could conceivably do a lot of cool things as a single cell. As always, the editor is the coolest part for me, and no exception for the cellular scale. I definitely think about what my cell would look like before evolving into a multi-cellular being.
