Small vs. Large Creatures

What possible advantages do small creatures have over large creatures because in a game play video i watched, there were hamster sized creatures and i thought... honestly why would u make a creature that size, what do u get out of it?

The smaller your creature (I would assume) the stealthier they are, which would make them harder for prey to catch.

Though the stealth thing i agree with, and the fact that the smaller you are means ure lighter so u can run faster. But y would ure prey b trying to catch u?

My mistake I meant to say predators, but I suppose that prey could be hunting you if you are equally matched but eat each other or a herbivore could still kill a predator e.g Tryceratops.

One of the major points of this game is to emulate evolution.

So ask yourself.. why are there small creatures in nature?
then I think you will find your answer

Greetings porcle!,

The only advantage that I can think of that is gained from a smaller creature is purely aesthetic. Points that calculate stealth, speed, and strength (etc.) are all a result of the parts you put on your creature. Basically, the 'cool' factor comes into effect.

I mean, who wouldn't want a hamster that could eat an elephant?

size does matter

i have no idea why anyone would make a small creature, if you can actually control the size... "its harder for predators to catch them." why make tiny prey when you could make an epic sized predator. And when you could smoke anyother creature no problem why do you need to care about stealth...

Some Questions:
Can you actually control the size of the creature? Can you even make a epic or small creature or are you randomly scaled? If so that would sort of suck you plan on making a super predator and end up being 2 inches tall cuz its all random...

I want to make really small animals who will hunt in massive numbers to take down the biggest creatures on my planet. Which leads me to a q: How large can your packs be?

If a giant carnivore comes along and sees a tiny reptile shrew, he won't give a shit and he'll go and eat the bear right next to him, but if the player behind the carnivore is a total jerk and gets a kick out of killing things then he'll kill it for the fun of it

Honestly i dont think it matters if you make a big or small creature
my guess is smaller creatures would have more intelligence and bigger would be more physical
but i could be wrong
but im probably making a small one for the cuteness factor
nothing like getting tortured on an airless planet by things the size of a cat

the creatures downloaded and stuff is built around you, you get aggressive you wont be finding too many diplomatic races. Plus rather than asking alot of the creation questions wait till the editor comes out and look at the stats of a small creature compared to a big one.

Let me get factual here, when the dinosaurs were wiped out the animals that took over as the dominant creatures were the mammals....but all the mammals at that period were hamster sized and they seemed to survive over the large dinosaurs so there must be some positive....

I think most creatures I make will be small with a few large ones for effect...

I plan on making a civilization of rats that are insanely industrious and suck planets dry of spice. I also plan on making an entire array of giant 3-story-tall crabs that will roam around and cause havoc. I really don't care about benefits, I just make crap and force it to survive. This is made easier when the game world adapts to my play style.

Combat wise I've seen videos where smaller creatures have beaten creatures twice their size due to speed.

Well isn't it the stats on parts and the legs and arms you choose that determine how powerful, fast, defensive the creature so a small one could match up to a bigger one easily

Lemme compare this to another situation
So when Spiderman and the Incredible Hulk (who is like 230850328508x Peter parkers size)
fought
spiderman completely destroyed his ass
so you tell me this
smaller or bigger?
