His name is Blohard, he shoots fire out of the hole in his arms. He can also use his arms like clubs. He is a little larger than a bear. Blohard lives in caves, and eats dirt like earthworms. But he can eat anything that is chewable. Dirt is always available. His middle is flesh, and inside the rock parts of him he has a normal body(by "normal, i mean human-like skin and stuff. He is not human shaped.). http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/8...ures106yq8.jpg

AND GEUSS WHAT. He IS a hunk of rock. Not mud. I ran out of the brown i used for the top, so i mixed another brown with white to try to get the same color. Clay is expensive. I also have 2nd place in a sculpture contest for two other ones. These are not an entries, but here: The seagulls legs broke so i had to bake more clay on. I did not have the right color. http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/1...ures040ze9.jpg http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/1...ures068bq3.jpg http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/1...ures076vm9.jpg http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/64/...ures075yd2.jpg http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/784...ures084fm8.jpg

I sorta blew up i geuss. Also, dragoneye, i use sculpy polyclay. I would recommend it. But you can't make very big things with it. P.S. Like my new avatar? Pastrysexual!

But, it's not for everyone. I use it because of the feel. Unless you have sculpted that won't make sense though..i geuss it's like the difference between acrylics, oil paints, and water color. Because if the clay is to soft, it won't lend itself to detail, but it won't need kneading. If it's too firm, it will lend very well to detail, but for the main mold it will take a long time to knead. That's why play-do is so hard to sculpt with. It's not firm enough. But if you want to carve, don't do it with poly clay. I use some tools for my polyclay, too. In my opinion the best tool by far, (you won't need much more than this) is an exacto knife. You can stick it in and make holes in the clay, then get little beads of another color and put it inside the hole so that it squeezes out to make good eyes. You can cut perfect clay sizes with it. You can carefully remove peices of clay that stuck on accidentaly, which is very useful if you do not keep every color seperate(that's me). You can fine tune the shape of you sculpture with it. You have to bake poly clay at 275", for an amount of time that depends on your sculpture. The main problem with sculpey is that the size limit is about...pencil high. And to do that, you'll need wire and some metal. I used peices of coat hangers inside Blohard's arms, and legs. Then i had to support him from behind with a nail. The other problem is that while a good density, you can't detaiil it as much as stone. But that goes for pretty much all clays. For bigger sculptures you can use that air dry clay, but keep it wet. If you use air-dry clay, you can make pate, dissolving some bits of clay in water. Pate is like glue for clay , but it doesn't work after the clay is hard ( i think). I have used air dry clay once or twice, my biggest project with it was a 4-inch king kong that i gave as a birthday present to a friend. You could also use Femo polyclay, but it's toxic, don't rub your eyes or eat. I am starting to think about carving from things, though. If you want to carve, you could try soap at first. I tried, it it was pretty fun. I made a christmas tree (it started as a fish, LAWL.) And a tiki with arms. But i'm not so good at carving, it's just that you can have more detail that way. You can also buy some non-bake clay for practice. For this i use claymator's clay. I like to make monsters, then have them tear eachother apart in a deadly tournament. I give them names like "cyclops" "brainhammer(my dad's)" and " thunder lizard" the latest: "Armed dillo" and "hive" and "Vesuvious". Thanks if anyone actually had time to read this! P.S. I believe i am using sculpey III. It's in the site i posted HERE.

Ok this both a showing of my creature and a question.
First of all my creature's name is Necris (not final, still wondering if I should base it off the latin word Necro) and they are about half the size of a teapot (you'll understand why a teapot later) . There are small insect like wings on their backs and two webbed, clawed feet and clawed hands with a aposable thumbs, and a tail with a stinger. They are herbiviores and increadibly docile, but also incredibly protective and if one of them is attacked it will scream and release strong ferimones causing swarms of them to come and attack the offender in large masses, at which time they become omniviores. Now second, I had made some 3D stuff for my creature using Gmax and I would like to use it, but I had a random error occur in the file when I tried to open it. I'm guessing it has to do with a problem where a tried to enter a file that Gmax did not support, but form then on when I did any uploading or saving on it it wanted that file that it called "missing". The wierd thing is I never touched the file. So I've thought of a few ways out of it, but I don't know how to do any of them, first if anyone else had this problem please help me, next since the file is there it just can't find it can anyone tell me how to get it to reconize it (also it already lets you try to redir ect it's path, it's just the "broken" path is right), then it automaticly makes a thumbnail when you save it, so even if it isn't the file I could at least use the one picture. Thanks in advance, ![]() |
