Hail!
This is my first try for the contest with two creatures, although neither of them are buildable in the CC.
Here we goes. My story is took place in the solarsystem called Cseg-tirtür (which means solarsystem in Krion). It has got four suns (wich is very ordinary in Galaxy), a red giant (Ityáz Úftür, Red Jewel) wich will explode approximately in 1500 million years, the other suns are substantially smaller so a single (Cseg, Sun) and a couple (Sziljári Hüterát, Tireless Sisters/Borthers [a word with both meaning, so don't know if it refers to a male or female]) are circle around the Ityáz Úftür, unfortunately the high number of suns produced very hostile conditions for planet formation, so there are only two gas giants around the Sziljári Hüterát, and three stone planets around the Cseg two of them is Mercury-sized, but the second's radius is double than Earth's. This vulcanic planet is called Kászu Krion (Home of Krions), where the systems well developed creatures live, the Krions. The Krions will be my first creatures designed in the CC, but I pass this issue to Tuesday.
So let's fly back to the gas giants, one of them is ten times bigger than Jupiter, the other is half that large, called Zord (a famous Krion leader), mostly consists of Hydrogen and Helium, however its core composition is unknown. The planet is mostly brown and yellow, and it has a very tempestuous weather. In this hostile environment exist a race called Dőr-Banog (Bulge-Jellyfish) by the Krions. They look like this

http://img106.imageshack.us/my.php?i...ormedzahe9.jpg). It is unknown how have they arisen, and how they survive the high airpressure, gravity and the storms. They are heterotrophs, they hunt for the local creatures the smaller chemotroph species, but when they cannot find any they become chemotrophs too, it is possible because the Dőr-Banogs aren't one being at all, their cells are genetically the same, but different cells make up the arms, the gasbags, the nervous system, etc; so when one kind of cell segments two cells born with the same properties, but can live as individuals (like in mushrooms). Baby Dőr-Banogs are as big as a small bus, while adoults could easily exceed a size of house. They have tetacle like arms minimum 2 and maximum 11, the more arms the Dőr-Banog has, the more old it is. The arms has different functions like: communication with others, grab the food to the mouth, grab each other to form colonies, etc. They have gasbags under their bulge-head (torso), with them they are capable to float, but they can only influence their movement minimally, mostly they just fly with the wind, and grabbing anything they find. Sometimes they attack Krion deep-atmosphere ships in flocks, their raids are terrifyingly organised, hence there is a debate if the Dőr-Banogs are intelligent or they just the tools of a much more dangerous being. Nevertheless they are social creatures, and sometimes form huge colonies for months, they cummunicate with gestures, (Krions said, when when they first saw them from above, that they are one huge, wavering bubble-forest) sharing every information and memory, so when they are in colony they have collective memories and mind.
The Tékloms (Crag-Beings), are the most misterious cretures in the Cseg system, they look like this (electricity is displayed visible)
http://img106.imageshack.us/my.php?i...nykicsiol4.jpg. Krion belive that they coeval with their own solarsystem, wich 7 billion years old. They needed very special condition to become conscious. Some parts of the asteroid belt around Zord is electric, and the strongly metallic rocks and crags and thick dust around them behave as nerve-cells, building up a nervous system, so eventually they are creatures without bodies, just a big brain. But how could spontaneous electric discharges become intelligence? It is still a secret. If you think that Tékloms are vulnerable to asteroid activity, because they are not cohesive, your calculation is wrong. Due to their powerful psychical activity, they could affect the asteroids (themselves), to stay in the desired form, in these ways they developed very quickly, and reached a high level of intelligence before any other being. Hence some Krions have stated, that they created the Dőr-Banogs, by manipulating the gas and other materials. Others have gone further, they said that even the Krions are creations of the Tékloms (instead of natural selection), but they quickly executed as heretics. The large coverage of their mental powers, and their structure suppose that they are not individuals, but a giant consciousness. However nobody could confirm or cunfute the claims about the Tékloms, because passengers of spaceships reported strange visions returning from planet Zorg, so it is highly possible that, these Crag-Beings knowingly manupulate the Krions thoughts, and consider their solarsystem as their own test-subject.
Hey guys, what's your opinion?
