A random thought about the upcoming release date announcement
In the response we received from April, she mentions:

this is probably just looking into it *too much* - but she said both "mid" (ie: the macworld expo, which occured at exactly "mid" january) and as well as "late" - It's not really what I would consider to be "late" january just yet, being the 22nd - but with the 2nd sentence "Around that time frame we'll be able to confirm a release date" - well, she's specifying the "mid-to-late" january timeframe as being the timeframe in which a release date will be confirmed...
So now that we know that the information they intended on releasing during mid-january was the Mac announcement, then we know that they intend (at least at the time she sent us the reply) to announce the release date at the *end* of january.
1 week and we *should* get it - though personally I see only about a 30% chance of that happening, given their track record and the strong possibility that I'm just looking into it too much.
