I doubt Will Wright claims ownership to the Sim Franchise anymore, if you remember Maxis was merged in the EA Sims Division. This means that Will Wright is not required for the creation of future Sim games, including Spore.

You must also realise that Will Wright surely did not single handedly come up with every idea his company has produced. In fact, its the sad truth that Will Wright, as much as a Genuis as he is does not play a very large part.

Don't worry, Spore and Sims for a long time!
